  1. Learners or leaners ? Would defo learn you that saw chain and steel dont mix.
  2. Yep, that's the image I was worried about [emoji2][emoji16]
  3. The last thing I'd need when late (as normal) in the morning would be the sad knowledge that I've another 5 minutes to lose out of my life, just doing up bloody laces , especially when the cat comes along wanting to play. Then the risk of being hounded up the street by Gaydar guys, - no def not for me.
  4. When handling logs into the sawmill, I dread seeing the client proudly turn up with a zero swing. I force them to handle the largest logs first ,well away from my mill, and rotate 360° at full extension to give me an idea if their stability, and them an idea of the risk. They're fine working along the line of the tracks but lose quite an amount of reach with the longer undercarriage.
  5. And handy now for greasing the undercarriage, without that awkward pesky upper section.[emoji6]
  6. We've got a freelander 1, for comfort on road generally, and occasionally pulling a 5m60 caravan it does the job well. Yes it do ave a few of the mk1 issues and foibles but service it before it needs it. I really want to upgrade to a 2 but the price jump upwards is way more than our funds and reserves will stretch to. I've been told by dealers that owners of the 2 tend to hold onto them as they're surprisingly good, so not many on the resale market.
  7. Loved using 785,885 and a gorgeous six pot 956. All really well mannered on road both in steering and gears.
  8. In a soft field you'll still get stuck, just deeper and further away from anything to recover with. Well thats how it happens for me.! Especially when loaded, or when returning back having thought oooh that's a bit soft on the outward journey .
  9. We had one in our house a number of years ago. In trying to scoop it up to remove it, its defence mechanism kicked in and squirted out the most incredibly pungent "oil". The smell hung around for weeks. !
  10. I suppose that would be the least of her problems
  11. The facial hair?
  12. In Ireland it may come into law, but the chance of any sort of enforcement will be minimal. Owners almost always own a farm, have a family farm or contract haulage to farms. The loopholes and wriggle outs are more plentiful than the number of guards able to police it. There's a strong tradition of, not disrespecting the law, just finding ways round it, and believing that it actually applies to someone else!
  13. Ripping teeth off is just one of many bloody annoying and costly occurences in milling. Re horsing , I see in your profile your Oxfordshire. I did my best days of my tree surgery life in Chinnor Oxon. Complete tree services, Hell I learnt some stuff, back in the days when we carried everything, horsed it out and climbed on 3 strand.
  14. I used to try that too, now 3 1/2 yrs later the bottom frame warning stickers have just about gone to the afterlife , and horsing in 21'4" big logs with cranes and diggers has done for the lucas mill advertising !
  15. Jeez that's a clean and new looking mill.
  16. They're not 100% consistent on angle and with too much pressure can overheat the cutters but for a heavily damaged chain can save a ballache of filing. On 190 drivelink lucas mill chains its an essential bit of kit. Learn to hand sharpen well and you'll get better edges but every tool has a good and a bad side. This machine will get you out of trouble but wont make you a better edger of chain. In comparison to oregon models consider it disposable.
  17. After drying resaw to 7/8" , plane to 3/4" then use as panelling inside beech frames for an outstanding kitchen. Marks and punctures too easily for the worktop. Warps and moves too much for unframed use in my view. Shaun
  18. If landrovers had a lsd anywhere it would be the most outstandingly usefull, practical and needed development they'd done in the last 60 years!
  19. Can't listen to this without my thoughts morphing into 'test match special ' from radio 4 , and then the splendid giggling commentary .[emoji4]
  20. Dont forget the gutters and that pesky missing roofslate.[emoji6]
  21. Wouldn't it be more effective to perhaps shoot the police first and then rock on with proper law to the scumbags ? Saves the cost of the useless phonecall. - oh that already happens......... its called America.
  22. Doesn't she just look to the left, then?
  23. On my bucket list to get to see fantastic trees like these gorgeous pictures show. Thank you
  24. With all this buildung hardware, it doesn't sound like just 8-12 birds ?
  25. Looks sycamore to me
