  1. Don't need your postcode, but what part of the country are you? Russ
  2. Big + for the ZZ. It's a Hitch climber but better and totally reliable in terms of bite and tending. I've struggled with the HC & friction rope size tbh. Either too tight or not totally biting and affecting my general confidence in the basic "trust" in the rig. Since the (costly) convert in rope and ZZ system, I have to say I'm the better climber for it. I totally trust it and it works every time. I'll still revert to a HC on a tight friction knot on the old rope for Conifer bashing thou, just so the ZZ doesn't take any unnecessary hits. Russ
  3. Bit of satire there Loggers I'm afraid, unless of course that's a double bluff on your part......... Russ
  4. And you must only travel between 23.00 & 06.00. Russ
  5. From a FB page, possibly because I'm logged in I can see it? https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10153297352289850&id=22381939849&refid=12&__tn__=H

  7. Got to say I'm not a fan of FB for personal use, but having just created one for LGS the other week I do see the advantages over a website for business promotion. As long as the photos are interesting and you can put a story to them it's better than shots of all your work on one page (as in the websites theme). I'm on https://m.facebook.com/profile.php?id=420576204776651 Would you be so good as to do the likey things please chaps? I'll go back over the last few pages and do the same. Thanks Russ
  8. What everyone's said so far. Got to get into carving, this stuff inspires me. Russ
  9. "Man & chipper" is more likely to fare better as "all rounder type groundy with the bonus of a chipper". Worked on a job where the guy that had the chipper as a subby, did fook all but fire up the chipper and feed it. To be fair he might of dragged a bit of brash, but no way was he fireing up a saw, despite running his own show as Tree Surgery. No team effort at all. Got to say the cs 100 is a niche market, great for the job that needs it, but if you were only going to be "man & chipper" I would look at what else you bring to the table before you really advertise. Russ
  10. Vasaline Or modern day equivalent. :-) Russ
  11. How does being a Saturday & Sunday Warrior complicate it? Russ
  12. Not easy I know, but try & get a course that uses a site with actual wb trees. I'm fortunate that thru my local Forestry Commission (FC) contacts we were able to push a "wb & uprooted tree" course thru with local service providers following the storms of early 2014 and utilise realtime examples. Other than that as I understand it you could be faced with a "what if / imagine this" type of setting for a learning environment - not ideal. Most FC sites have a agreement with service providers for arb & forestry - tackle it the other way & contact your local FC and see what score is. Russ
  13. Folks - Quoting for a job with a part dead Ash, full dismantle, about 40ft, heavy decay & fungus very evident, leading to MEWP access only. 2 BT lines thru' canopy that are going to take hits - don't care how careful, it's going to happen. Ideally - "hello BT, It's LGS Tree Surgery & can we get the line temporarily removed, (as the tree is going to do it sometime by itself anyway) whilst we carry out work"? Reality - How much to do something like this, despite as a proactive request? Thanks in anticipation. Russ
  14. Just watched a somewhat interesting bit of news 're above. Anyone else see it? Russ

    6 Nations.

Best 6 / half hours of tv ever. Classic action, big hits, and what the game is really all about. The dog was barking every time we (Angleterre) scored - in tune with my own howl of tribal triumph. That v the hairdressers strop game aka football? EVERY TIME Russ
  16. It will be a tree house for new workers to our shores. Russ
  17. Knackered old paint brush to clean the housing around the oil cap on the saws. Russ
  18. Just got a new 201 two weeks ago, no throttle lag and as much grunt as you need. No trouble starting either - unlike Husky equiv, which seems a right dog IMO especially starting, hot or cold. I actually got the 201 to save my 150, as I was asking the smaller saw to do stuff it shouldn't and wanted to keep it for the pruning work. I'd got the 150 when the first 201 came out and was getting bad press. Russ
  19. [ame] [/ame] Fantastic mantra. Russ
  20. Fantastic No link - just watched it. Russ
  21. Any fool can be uncomfortable.....
  22. I see my local Bowen Practitioner once month for an MOT - I call her Witchy Thumbs. She used to put me back together after big wipeouts when kitesurfing and now I use her to stay on top of climbing niggles that crop up when you've doing the contorted stuff in the tree when cold. Very effective, have to say that I'm pretty wiped out after a session and have to drink loads of water. Next day feel great. Russ
  23. Does anybody ever use Rocking Horse crap as manor? Russ
