  1. I've been wondering about running similar competitions to help my self... Can you spot the [insert tool name here] on this workbench etc
  2. Are those ones you're deliberately growing White Noise? If so what species?
  3. So how did the mushrooms work out? Would there be any issues if you were inoculating stumps etc in a forest (ie any risk of spread to live trees?)
  4. It's also unlikely that you can claim against tax for all your ppe and climbing gear if you're employed (unlike self employed), but your employer could.

    Overloaded

On the spot fines unless you're engaged in lawful activity such as sheep burning, blockading motorways or helping people over fences in Calais.
  6. Is it purely the white colour that differentiates between ostreatus and dryinus? Or is there something else I should be looking at?
  7. Worth looking around for copies , Tormek used to be unique but now loads of people do exact copies (eg Axminxter / Jet) and you can still use the tormak jigs if necessary
  8. I wouldn't start off carving with the 660 (it'll probably be hard getting a carving bar for it as well!). Tbh I'd look for something lighter than the 038 as well - perhaps try a secondhand 170 or 180?
  9. I thought yours was much more succinct
  10. Carving bars have less risk of kickback due to the reduced radius (and hence segment) at the tip which means that there is less chance of them catching on the upper front quadrant. You still need to use them properly but have a much lower risk when doing a plunge cut.
  11. Same here, even used it as barbeque fuel and I've never noticed a thing.
  12. Is there no risk of damage to the wrench from the shock loading? Can you safely just swap back and forth using it for climbing and rigging?
  13. thanks
  14. Could you share that list please?
  15. Your yellow and white should be replacing the leads from the control box switches (so you'll have power from the battery still going direct to crane as before AND to the remote receiver)

    Scrap pile!

Nothing quite so satisfying as repairing something with a piece of cr*p that you've had hanging around for years ) Unfortunately despite using stuff quite often the heap continues to grow
  17. I thought that was the whole point of cs30 teach you which end is the front and how to maintain and sharpen the saw?
  18. Out of interest with this sort of infestation if you end up felling the tree... is the timber worth doing anything with other than burning? what is it safe to replant with?
  19. I use libre office / open office , used to pay out for Microsoft office on each new computer but won't ever bother to do so again. You get almost the same functionality but it can take a bit of time to get used to finding everything if you've been used to using Microsoft over the years.
  20. What sort of stuff do you have available Matt? (I'm in Oldham/Saddleworth)

    Oak

Why not make it into some simple garden furniture yourself John - simple bench, pergola etc - I'm sure the additional work would be more than recompensed in both a wider market and better prices?
  22. Presumably it belongs to the insurance company in that situation
  23. I think your prices are highly optimistic as well Steve, if I was going to pay 35-45 per cubic foot I'd expect to be able to get all the sizes and species I wanted, as a one off with a limited selection I think your prices would be much lower (but there again I live in the north so my be way off on current southern prices). Having said that I'd still mill it but I'd do it to keep for myself.
  24. Not to be picky 10 Bears but just because it is a single sentence doesn't mean it can't be a paragraph. In this case it's both a paragraph (due to the paragraph break - it doesn't continue in the space left on the line above it after the previous sentence) and a sentence.
  25. I guess E7
