  1. Aye, got a pair of chainsaw trousers after a month and then an old saw and they paid for my chainsaw tickets and could take as much firewood as I wanted. I found experience in this industry is worth a lot when your just starting.
  2. Not every company can afford another man on the books but want to help some one out get experience. I worked for a year like this on my days off just to get experience and now I own a big company so clearly it does work
  3. Steel cable bracing is not out dated, it has it uses and has a completely different installation reason that cobra. Cobra generally allows the tree to move and breath. Steel bar and bracing is used more for static bracing.
  4. There's a difference between offering to work for free and working for free. Any decent employer would give you something in exchange, not always money could be old kit, training course, firewood. However if someone phoned me up asking for work but had no quals and no experience and wanted paid I'd be reluctant.
  5. Put all your spare money into courses, then get a hold of local companies and get some experience which is worth as much as tickets. Offer to work for free and hope to get paid when you get better.

  11. We've got 19 limes to thin and reduce on a road. We explained to the council that it would be safest to close the road.
  12. A lot of people in tree work seem to think you can pop up a few cones or signs and if people walk through them it's the publics fault. I've news for you it's not! It's your fault for not putting better measures in place.
  13. Some boy phoned from Perth but never bothered sending a quote. I've got my own MOG just not got a winch on her. It looks like for the cost of hiring someone I could buy a winch
  14. Gold bars are the biscuits of champions. If the customer brings them out we almost never drop the tree on her house
  15. There was a road and a load of saplings the other side that meant everything would have to of been rigged down. With the weight all over the cliff it would have been too dangerous to allow a groundie anywhere near the stem without being tied in. Which would have been nightmare safety wise and practically.
  16. Not worked out how to do videos yet but will upload when I do Persuaded the young groundie to go down for the rope at the end.
