  1. Going to use the hiab of the lorry
  2. Quoted a job for a hotel that we've worked for before. Always dealt with the maintenance man. He called and asked us to carry out the work. We called in and confirmed with duty manager before starting. Finished the job, put in the invoice and now 3 months later they are saying no-one said the work was to be done and there not paying. The maintenance man left just after we finished. I know folk get signed paperwork and purchase orders but up here it's not normally like that. Any advice or help?
  3. Lovely tree, glad your doing your best to retain it. You climb up with a big petrol drill and a 5 ft drill bit. I did it to a big beech 5 years ago and the union hasn't budged since.
  4. Yeah cable isn't the strongest. I would alway use threaded bar. Drill straight through and some large square washer. Never seen that fail and doesn't do as much harm to the tree as you'd think.
  5. Fair enough, but cobra is designed to allow the tree to move so won't winching the stems in at the top will just put unorthodox stress on the Union that they aren't used to. That's really interesting I've never seen failed steel bracing. What size bar was used? Was there plates and bolts too ?
  6. That won't really help the poor Union if you've done that. Surely would have been better to bar brace at the Union
  7. Looks pretty spot on, nice to see bracing done. As above did you use the absorber dong?
  8. Also large companies may have 4/5 teams out so can go cheaper on each job and still rake it in.
  9. I require a climber or someone that has just passed there 38 for a months work to start with. Chances are will lead to full time work. Work is in Moray must have aerial rescue as min. Lodgings can be provided. Immediate start
  10. All depends how much the client wants it reduced
  11. I'm going to do similar tomorrow on a site. Just going to carry out a negative survey. Identify ones to be worked on. I could go through the lot 350+ but the client would never pay what it would cost.
  12. If your worried go for the 8 ton, I've braced some monster limbs with cobra but never one that I thought would break the 8 ton. Is the bracing to help poor unions or prevent the limbs falling on the building if they fail ?
  13. It's done on branch diameter. If you google cobra bracing in Google there's a good YouTube video that explains it all. Just saw the bottom line
  14. Gorse, gorse and more gorse!! Grand view though
  15. Hahaha just noticed that. Surprising how well horses burn !!
  16. First day of horse clearance. Cutting and burning. Clearing saw is impressive but blunts quickly. Glad we had some serious gloves.
  17. Causing carnage and destruction today.
  18. Forgot to post the other day that I found an exhaust at Dingbros that fits perfect on the MOG and only £130 instead of £250 for a second hand one. I'll get a pic up soon
  19. We require a labourer or a groundsman for 2 weeks work north of Inverness. Food and accommodation provided. Good rates and good chance for someone to get into the industry. No quals or experience required. Potential for full time work if you impress.
