  1. It's just me, myself and I 🙂
  2. The chinglish manuals are already bad enough!.
  3. They keep on making digs at Liz and her budget, yeah the whole month she was in charge did so much damage Other than the banking speculation and damage done by rishi and his former banking pals.
  4. I'm sure my pension in the decades ahead will just about cover a fika once a month
  5. Trawling more like it, moby dick off the starboard bow
  6. I'm sure your the only person who can sit alone in a dark room and cause an argument. It's been said several time even by other people, not paying new people crap wages is the single only way to attract anyone into any industry. You just choose to keep asking the same question and not accepting those coming in are not getting rewarded.
  7. Did you actually read my post, salary numbers. I couldn't care how much you've saved or invested, we were talking about why your industry can't get new staff. But no we want a pissing contest, don't we.
  8. Well instead of casting doubt why don't you adjust the numbers accordingly and we can all see how horrendously unattractive they actually are for anyone other than you!.
  9. Do let's breakdown what little information. You = 45-50k no weekends Experienced = 40k two weekends New staff = 20-25k at a guess ?. So as a new employee I could expect to go from 20-25 1st year to 30k second?. There is a reason why it's not attractive and I would bet the starting salary is around 16-18k. Why would a kid want the promise of cake tomorrow when it's a chocolate cake of human poo at 18k ?. You'd get more in the army.
  10. And that was your arsey reply to me asking if 40 was the starting salary. You can't just harpoon an industry saying you can't get staff without knowing what they start at.
  11. So what is the starting salary then!. You can't just say we can't get the staff without knowing the starting salary. It'd have to be say circa 28k to attract new people.
  12. But is 40k the starting salary for someone relatively new. Whilst they aren't going to attract experienced people, they will get new people in.
  13. Instead of trying to be argumentive, you could have just asked that couldn't you. The simple answer is you'll be encouraged to reduce your hours and new people will come into the industry, providing people don't financially take the piss which is what they have been doing, as you so eloquently put it you took advantage and the young are going to have to pay for it. A pension pot is not a savings account, it's given to you whilst working people replenish the pot.
  14. How about actually ask a question, seeing as it was a discussion.
  15. And do you think 90% of companies would match what you've paid in today?. I would have been laughed out the office, warehouse, carpark and then they would have rang my mobile to laugh at me all the way home. Every employer I've worked for has been SME, they even grudged paying the absolute minimum.
  16. Let's do fag packet maths, 18-55 = 37 years working For the sake of argument you've bought your home and a new car before retirement. You'll want say 1500 a month until you die at say 85. 55-85 = 30 years 1500x12 = 18k 18k x 30 = 540k required.
  17. Seeing we were discussing non arb types retiring early my comments were pretty accurate. You chucked in the grenade of you've paid in so I can retire early, but gave zero reference to how much you're paid which equates to how much you've paid in If you asking am I paid 25, nope.
  18. Was that a question or a statement.
  19. The reality must be 40k+ a year manual jobs since they were 25, your not going to retire early if your on 25k.
  20. Were these people interviewed called Tarquin and Florence ?. Whilst it's true for those that have worked mostly high paid non manual jobs they want to get out by 55. Everyone else with a trade can't
  21. That article does say he parked 10m closer than the height of the tree. Looking at the picture it looks like someone got the reported numbers wrong, 32m tree he parked 22m. That tree is looking like 50/50 over the truck.
  22. They do come in a variety of sizes, maybe speak to them and send them a picture. It's only what a 5" flue, so probably the smallest 8mm rods ?.
  23. Weird, they're usually pretty flexible. There should also be an inspection point above somewhere close by.
  24. Just get another sweep who uses power brushes instead of b&q specials.
  25. Google says 3-7grams of platinum. At £20, it's probably better to just go robbing at Tesco.
