I bought 25l of Rye oil of eBay for £47 delivered I think it was, really don't rate it at all & won't be buying it again, back to oregon next time I think.

I'm in a similar position, had all my ground maintenance gear & important stuff in a 'secure' lock up, went away on holiday & got cleared out! Have got the cards in my wallet but over time & working in the rain they kind of paper macheyd (*sp !?) why they don't come laminated or why I didn't I'll never know. Now after applying for replacement cards only (£44 per cert!) NPTC can't match my addresses at the time of assessment, even with my candidate number - v frustrating...

It'll be fine until something goes wrong! Personally I'd make sure all requests for training were logged (say email etc) if only to just cover your back (& the lads you work with) Cos they'll try & pass the buck in the event something goes pear shaped. I'm guessing you don't do risk assessments at every job either?!

I'm 39 this year & 1 of the first questions I usually get asked when offering subby services is "how old are you?" most employers prefer over 25 for insurance purposes & In reality it is a young mans game & 35 can be a ceiling for some firms I've experienced. I've been doing this for over 10 years (50% power lines & 50% domestic) now & the quality of the new guys coming in is pretty poor really imo. Some of them wouldn't last the day in UA! As long as you're prepared to graft, don't chat utter sh1te all the time, get stuck in with the lads, don't take personal phone calls outside of breaks & don't stand there gawping at peeps working then you will be OK I used to work down that way, when I'm back home I'll pm you some old numbers for you to ring. Have you tried hi-line?

Maybe so but this little Jonny can't justify an 88 sat in the lockup for most of the year. How often do you use yours big boy ?

Complete tosh imo! Hiring over buying comes down to cost & whether you can justify a big spend to how much you'll be using it. Kit has got to pay for itself. I think the hiring of big saws Is a good idea, for the folk who are just starting out & can't afford splashing out on the full gear.

The tw150 is as good as it is bad, if you're doing domestic then the turntable hopper will make your life much easier. Have used the tw150 more & it's a good machine but have found on the whole greenmech to be faultless, apart from beat up mk1 dinosaurs. For the money & what you get, the greenmech wins every time
