  1. would be more in line with what the vosa guy told us that taking rings back to the yard for further processing would be forestry but taking finished logs back is not.
  2. S G Baker same as our vented bags we only buy 1k at a time so costs us something like 20p a net
  3. yep just glide over the logs where the close knit catches on every little snag have not timed it but the increased speed probably makes up for the few pennies extra.
  4. we are doing the same next vehicle change 3.5t just doesn't suit any more and a lot of deliveries are in cul de sac's where you don't want to be with a trailer.
  5. how does the bed of the truck stand up to lifting bags, there's a guy round here with one and he seems to be in at the welders alot, tempted with something similar for single bag runs on a defender.
  6. yep but only necessary with the trailer, but having read the other thread we take timber off the estate so we should be able to do all the local deliveries without using it although impression we got from vosa here was they would prosecute.
  7. how many bags are you carrying? we only get 2 and we had to go aluminium for the bed and cut off the spare wheel to keep legal but we lose something like 400kg with the 4 wheel drive.
  8. mono nets definitely worth the extra money.
  9. think this is what Tomatin did when they pulled him for no Tacho as he has small woodland on the farm.
  10. Vosa told me if the goods in the trailer are for sale then it needs a tacho landscapers, builders etc don't need one because they are carrying goods/machinery for use but if you are delivering the likes of a lawnmower to a customer then you will need a tacho. you can carry log rings because they need further processing but if it's finished logs irrespective if your going to a customer or back to a yard they will require a tacho. haven't made it to the end of thread yet so this might have been covered already.
  11. around 35 cube out this week but only 1 on order for next.so far the good thing is the 17 degrees forecast for today was actually about 8 raining and windy happy days.
  12. I lose alot of potential customers already to cheaper merchants, had someone email monday no logs left that would burn the usual supplier is now supplying logs 30%+mc can we supply max 20% core reading so I mess about splitting the stuff to get accurate readings 17.5% 19.8% 17.8% and they come back we will keep you in mind next time we need logs anyway point I wanted to make was this sounds like just an excuse to make money from merchants by creating another list that's not really necessary to be on but you will have to get on just in case there's already ENplus or woodsure for quality control.
  13. use a smaller bag, I would go with a 90x90 did also consider using the metal buckles with the poly strapping so you can draw it up as the wood dries.
  14. this is what I'm considering doing atm
  15. it came up on my FB feed couple of hrs ago posted by border biomass
  16. anyone seen this, “Latvia’s pulp fiction”: AlJazeera programme on FSC and destructive logging in Latvia | FSC-Watch
  17. still have around 350m3 sitting bagged and ready to go and today was very much a spring day.
  18. We use single bag tarps. 1.8mx1.2m cost around £5 each or we build into stacks of 12 and use bigger tarps We do have some which didn't get covered at all but they will be for selling next season.
  19. Problem we found was there could be a 10% difference in the mc between the centre of the pile and the outside. Much easier to pile them in bags.
  20. unfortunate, were the doors open or closed? no doors on ours and we tend to park the tractor across ours if there is wind forecast.
  21. the multitek aparently fit something extra for the uk market so you can produce 8-10" length logs, I questioned the lengths on one of their youtube videaos and that's what they replied at least and on the big machines you get a 16 Way Boxhead (18" Max diameter Logs) produces 4" logs.
  22. why not just buy a domestic size tunnel with steel pipe.
  23. anyone using a posch smartcut 700 to cut billets, is it any good? what sort of money are they.
  24. was a 4 way blade and about 3ft diameter and when finally got the thing cracked there wasn't a straight grain anywhere in it.
  25. stirling's longer I think and there's always an idiot who can only go round corners at 15 mph but can do 75 on the straights so you can't get passed them.
