  1. Vosa told me if the goods in the trailer are for sale then it needs a tacho landscapers, builders etc don't need one because they are carrying goods/machinery for use but if you are delivering the likes of a lawnmower to a customer then you will need a tacho. you can carry log rings because they need further processing but if it's finished logs irrespective if your going to a customer or back to a yard they will require a tacho. haven't made it to the end of thread yet so this might have been covered already.
  2. around 35 cube out this week but only 1 on order for next.so far the good thing is the 17 degrees forecast for today was actually about 8 raining and windy happy days.
  3. I lose alot of potential customers already to cheaper merchants, had someone email monday no logs left that would burn the usual supplier is now supplying logs 30%+mc can we supply max 20% core reading so I mess about splitting the stuff to get accurate readings 17.5% 19.8% 17.8% and they come back we will keep you in mind next time we need logs anyway point I wanted to make was this sounds like just an excuse to make money from merchants by creating another list that's not really necessary to be on but you will have to get on just in case there's already ENplus or woodsure for quality control.
  4. use a smaller bag, I would go with a 90x90 did also consider using the metal buckles with the poly strapping so you can draw it up as the wood dries.
  5. this is what I'm considering doing atm
  6. it came up on my FB feed couple of hrs ago posted by border biomass
  7. anyone seen this, “Latvia’s pulp fiction”: AlJazeera programme on FSC and destructive logging in Latvia | FSC-Watch
  8. still have around 350m3 sitting bagged and ready to go and today was very much a spring day.
  9. We use single bag tarps. 1.8mx1.2m cost around £5 each or we build into stacks of 12 and use bigger tarps We do have some which didn't get covered at all but they will be for selling next season.
  10. Problem we found was there could be a 10% difference in the mc between the centre of the pile and the outside. Much easier to pile them in bags.
  11. unfortunate, were the doors open or closed? no doors on ours and we tend to park the tractor across ours if there is wind forecast.
  12. the multitek aparently fit something extra for the uk market so you can produce 8-10" length logs, I questioned the lengths on one of their youtube videaos and that's what they replied at least and on the big machines you get a 16 Way Boxhead (18" Max diameter Logs) produces 4" logs.
  13. why not just buy a domestic size tunnel with steel pipe.
  14. anyone using a posch smartcut 700 to cut billets, is it any good? what sort of money are they.
  15. was a 4 way blade and about 3ft diameter and when finally got the thing cracked there wasn't a straight grain anywhere in it.
  16. stirling's longer I think and there's always an idiot who can only go round corners at 15 mph but can do 75 on the straights so you can't get passed them.
  17. I like the idea but not sure it would cope with the stuff we have over here like the chunk of oak I had to chainsaw off the posch today.
  18. if she's not a reader she will go lochearnhead then. nice drive about 6am in the summer.
  19. how about you tell my customers about this snow.
  20. tell them you can do a bag of green wood that wont burn either for only £35
  21. I don't see much of a profit for us selling hardwood at £55. from the tests we did last year on green beech only getting 1.5m3 to a ton at £52+vat delivered.
  22. just A
  23. thats what we have been doing or cutting into rings and splitting on the verticles but coming round to the idea of the cubic bundles just not sure how desirable they are, have seen a few through spamming google with softwood £65+vat but no hardwood priced.
  24. lots of talk on which splitter to buy but who sells billets what volume bundles and how are you pricing them. seem to remember a couple of threads a while ago about billet bundlers, just curious if this is worth considering rather than upgrading processor to a larger atm.
  25. That's the total stupidity of government that a part time user with little experience doesn't need training but if you use a saw day in day out you have to get training and refresher courses why don't they just say pay this tax and save everyone the hassle. did my training at 10/11 yr old just with steel toe cap boots n jeans in the school holidays you would probably get arrested for it now.
