  1. Aldi's stuff comes from somewhere off the m42 does it not, we also have a discount shop in the town bringing in slovenian kiln dried birch like an 80ltr plastic bag for £2.50
  2. what about the 32" multitek thats what 81cm or thereabouts
  3. this is why I'm amazed some of the prices mentioned for billets I find producing 1m3 billets quite a bit slower than a cube bag of cut logs so why sell at half the price. I pay £4 a ton to the farmer here for the timber we take out but we have to cut it and extract, any mill wood we charge £20 a ton + 5% sale price he gets the rest.
  4. try to get them to buy in the summer every year and I can count on 1 hand the people who do the rest don't buy till first frost.
  5. based on the fact caledonian ignored us last time and they charged me £120 to quote me for some work then never gave the quote think I will be giving them a miss. I'd be more interested with wilsons but 2 1/2 drive for a free burger not as bad as a run from cornwall I suppose.
  6. read on fb the other day someone got done for speeding on the A9 for doing 60 in their berlingo because also limited to 50.
  7. We had beech come in last year you could have filled a glass from the water running out the end of it.
  8. Jim Wilson came up with one to fit the posch it's on one of the youtube processor clips but no idea how much they were charging I just leave mine on the ground atm.
  9. you will never see a more miserable face than a haulier asking for a pull out of some hole and the thought of parting with a fiver for your trouble.
  10. There is new cctv cameras up here caught a transit cruising around the farm at 2am last week waiting to hear back from the police what he was doing although suspect he was after diesel rather than logs getting to the stage you will need to start camping in the yard to keep things safe.
  11. how much shrinkage are you getting once the timber dries and does your strapping hold or do you need to reband or are you seasoning first.
  12. 3 bags out yesterday 1 today and 2 to go tomorrow, strange as we almost never sell anything once it warms up.
  13. think they had it on loan, they do have the big chipper but also trying to go big time into the firewood, they haven't put any firewood on the market that we know about for couple of years keeping it all to themselves.
  14. saw a cone splitter at RTS yard was buzzing away on a piece of beech and only generating smoke suspect it might have caught fire in the end. Campmuir have a set of woodcracker jaws seemed to be quite good
  15. if your buying 8 bags at a time I'll deliver down there.
  16. I would go with a guy crosscutting and load & stack using the digger not convinced you can build as good a machine as the posch never mind better for less money.
  17. doesn't the resting just apply to driving, there must be some haulier kicking around on here with some knowledge on it I'll just wait till they fine me again.
  18. well usually we would use the trailer on a Monday and the tacho will show the vehicle hasn't been used over the weekend so there's 2 days rest.
  19. no idea. theres 2 of us do deliveries so even if they look at the tacho record without the cards in it won't mean anything either.
  20. no haulier told us get your card out soon as you can.
  21. We just run it out of scope all the time we use a trailer only 7 or 8 times a season.
  22. I get £3 + vat for mine and they sell them on £5.95 softwood isn't selling because my hardwood so dry, one customer still has 170 soft nets from 200 they bought in Sept and sold about 1800 hardwood
  23. whats wrong with just buying a horizontal splitter and a chainsaw if it's just personal use.
  24. try them for a free sample
  25. 46x56cm Monofilament Red Net Bag For Packing Kindling - NET202 | SGBAKER £232.80 per 1k on the website
