  1. There is new cctv cameras up here caught a transit cruising around the farm at 2am last week waiting to hear back from the police what he was doing although suspect he was after diesel rather than logs getting to the stage you will need to start camping in the yard to keep things safe.
  2. how much shrinkage are you getting once the timber dries and does your strapping hold or do you need to reband or are you seasoning first.
  3. 3 bags out yesterday 1 today and 2 to go tomorrow, strange as we almost never sell anything once it warms up.
  4. think they had it on loan, they do have the big chipper but also trying to go big time into the firewood, they haven't put any firewood on the market that we know about for couple of years keeping it all to themselves.
  5. saw a cone splitter at RTS yard was buzzing away on a piece of beech and only generating smoke suspect it might have caught fire in the end. Campmuir have a set of woodcracker jaws seemed to be quite good
  6. if your buying 8 bags at a time I'll deliver down there.
  7. I would go with a guy crosscutting and load & stack using the digger not convinced you can build as good a machine as the posch never mind better for less money.
  8. doesn't the resting just apply to driving, there must be some haulier kicking around on here with some knowledge on it I'll just wait till they fine me again.
  9. well usually we would use the trailer on a Monday and the tacho will show the vehicle hasn't been used over the weekend so there's 2 days rest.
  10. no idea. theres 2 of us do deliveries so even if they look at the tacho record without the cards in it won't mean anything either.
  11. no haulier told us get your card out soon as you can.
  12. We just run it out of scope all the time we use a trailer only 7 or 8 times a season.
  13. I get £3 + vat for mine and they sell them on £5.95 softwood isn't selling because my hardwood so dry, one customer still has 170 soft nets from 200 they bought in Sept and sold about 1800 hardwood
  14. whats wrong with just buying a horizontal splitter and a chainsaw if it's just personal use.
  15. try them for a free sample
  16. 46x56cm Monofilament Red Net Bag For Packing Kindling - NET202 | SGBAKER £232.80 per 1k on the website
  17. would be more in line with what the vosa guy told us that taking rings back to the yard for further processing would be forestry but taking finished logs back is not.
  18. S G Baker same as our vented bags we only buy 1k at a time so costs us something like 20p a net
  19. yep just glide over the logs where the close knit catches on every little snag have not timed it but the increased speed probably makes up for the few pennies extra.
  20. we are doing the same next vehicle change 3.5t just doesn't suit any more and a lot of deliveries are in cul de sac's where you don't want to be with a trailer.
  21. how does the bed of the truck stand up to lifting bags, there's a guy round here with one and he seems to be in at the welders alot, tempted with something similar for single bag runs on a defender.
  22. yep but only necessary with the trailer, but having read the other thread we take timber off the estate so we should be able to do all the local deliveries without using it although impression we got from vosa here was they would prosecute.
  23. how many bags are you carrying? we only get 2 and we had to go aluminium for the bed and cut off the spare wheel to keep legal but we lose something like 400kg with the 4 wheel drive.
  24. mono nets definitely worth the extra money.
  25. think this is what Tomatin did when they pulled him for no Tacho as he has small woodland on the farm.
