  1. Iv got 200tdi and a td5 and I belive you about the merits of the 3.9v8! Td5 and v8 fuel consumption arnt all that far apart and the v8s got aleast another 60hp. A td5 running at 180hp is a nice idea though:thumbup1:
  2. Iv had 3 or 4 170s with no problems, usually take 2 on jobs just in case/so I don't have to sharpen 1 halfway through the day. Going out to log up an 8-10 inch oak limb for a customer with them this morning.
  3. Nice little set up, how many spool valves do you need for a crane trailer like that?
  4. Just tugged it out with the 127, nice long strop to keep the truck out the wet bit, couple of pulls and out it came:thumbup1:
  5. I took the 35 topping the other day and had a small problem:001_rolleyes:
  6. Yes its a 35, I didn't exactly "choose" the 3060, it just came along at a price for which I can either use it or easily sell it on for a profit:thumbup1: we will have to wait and see how we get on!
  7. Thats good to know, but will it be as good as its older cousin?
  8. Just got this nice and cheap, picked it up this morning, haven't really used it yet though
  9. I think iv only used a bowsaw about 5 times in the 10 years since being shown silky saws at college! The last time was to get rid of an elder about 6inch es across and 10 foot high on a fencing job, only used the bowsaw as the hardware shop down the road was selling them for a fiver, cheaper than going to the yard for a chainsaw/silky!
  10. Not on a good one with helper springs, been picking up full legal loads and driving them about 10miles every day for the past 3 weeks in mine, no problem at al. Got another 15 tonnes to do this week. Having said tgat if you dont need (want?) To take it offroad its probably quite low down the list of tipper choices.
  11. Very nice, drive past your truck most days(iv got the multi coloured 127 tipper and before that I had a blue 110 van with winch and beacon on the roof). Are the hydralics for the snow plough or something eelse?
  12. Iv been doing bulk bags(builders, not cubic metre) in the back of my 110 van for the past 2 years, pulling them out the back door by hand, sometimes putting 2 in. Or I did them 2 at a time on a 3/4 ton trailer, again pulling them off by hand with no problem.
  13. Thanks, picking it all up on Friday, quite looking forward to it:thumbup1:
  14. thanks for taking the time to find them, spent quite a bit of time online/looking at magazine price guides last night, had decided to tell them that I would offer them £3500 for it but that they might well get more if they tried, got a phone call this morning saying that the local dealer offered them £2500 for the tractor and all the implements, and if I matched that I could have them!!:thumbup1:im well pleased! everything I need to start doing some field maintenance work, hopefully I can get my hands on it by the first weekend in july and I can put it on our stall at the village fete, with new adverts/leaflets etc.
  15. I felled a dead lime pollard about 15ft high by 2ft across, it was so dead it exploded when it hit the floor and we shovelled about half of it into the truck! put it on the bonfire heap which had not been lit for 2 weeks, it disappeared overnight!
  16. Ok thanks the export thing works in my favour- the harder it is to get top price the more likely I am to be able to buy it! iv been looking all over for other ones to compare it to and havnt found 1, lots of 4wds tho.
  17. Im not sure of year, it belongs to a customer who has about 20 acres of grounds and they want to outsource their field work (their current maintenance men are worth their own thread on laziness/incompetence! ) and when I looked at i t there was no number plate on it. They have asked me to get a price for the tractor, topper, harrow and roller!
  18. Maybe a bit of a long shot but Does anyone have any idea how much a massey ferguson 3090 autotronic 2wd with 3500 hours on the clock would be worth? Its fairly tidy but the doors are rusted out and the wings and cab have a few biggish rust spots. Thanks, William.
  19. Piston and cylinder changed, fired up first time, fitting a new carb to it when it arrives, cleaned about a pound of grime out the body work, well pleased:thumbup1: thanks for the advice everyone:thumbup: Next up an 088/090 project or maybe even a big husky?
  20. Spent this morning cutting splitting and stacking some great, knot free oak in the sun, now im sat watching tales from the wild wood on iplayer while replacing the engine on an 044 while it rains outside
  21. completely agree with that, logs have saved my backside many times! cut and split some whenever you can, forget about the bit of time and fuel money and then a few months later a couple of hours loading/unloading and you have a hundred quid or so, nice!
  22. On my way home tonight I bought ear defenders and headphones, if id seen this first...
  23. just taken of the muffler, the piston appears quite scored even to my non mechanical eye:thumbdown:, tomorrow i will show it to my engineer friend(got a feeling he might swear a lot when he sees it!) and compression test it. if it is a piston/compression issue prepare yourselves for many more questions im afraid! thanks again.
  24. ok, ill have a go at takeing the carb apart tomorrow night, getting a bit late now!thanks, William.
