1. Dan, I know there are lots of variables but roughly how many hours of grinding do you reckon you get out of your blades before changing them. I bought the rock grinder recently and have touched up the teeth after almost every stump with a diamond disk grinder. I reckon I've had about 6 hours out of them and am finding it hard to get a edge on them now. Time to chuck them and put a new set on or maybe get them properly bench grinded to milk more use out of them? Cheers
  2. I'd be interested too markeig31. Do you charge per hour or day/half day. Cheers
  3. Can anybody give me the size of the wheels on the ST6. I'm looking to buy a wheel clamp on ebay which ends 2mo and it gives the following dimentions: To fit wheel diameter: 545mm to 640mm Tyre width: 140-160mm I assume its ok but thought i'd double check if anyone has easy access to their chipper? Cheers
  4. None of this sounds great just as I was thinking of buying one. My other more expensive option is the forst. Would gm150 owners with the benefit of hindsight advise to spend the extra money on one?
  5. Here is a screen shot of the spec from the catalogue....
  6. Has anyone got one or used one extensively to give an opinion on these chippers. I believe they are tunnisens and used to be branded as kwikchips in the UK but I think they are updated models now. I'm demoing one this week so will get an idea but people's longer experience with them would be useful to know. The model I'm looking at is TS WS16-35DT. Cheers
  7. Anyone give any updates on these trackers after a few months use? Need to buy a tracker of some sort for a new chipper so any current recommendations would be good...
  8. Where abouts are you based at the moment?

I pretty much do all the climbing but usually have a groundy with me. As a guide my minimum charge for us is £100 and going by your timings is say it'd be between that and £160.

Let us know if you're interested and I can always go and have a quick look if is local.

Cheers

Hi, I've just seen your post about needing a climber. I run a small tree surgery company in Maidenhead and might be able to help out. Are you a tree surgery company or do you just need something climbing for your other operations?

  11. Could be a dirty/rotten fuel filter or something in the carb. There is a little metal pin on a float in the carb (don't know the proper name for it)that can get knocked out of place and this could be causing it.
  12. It sounds like the blades are not sharpened correctly but mine go to SMK and apart from once a long time shall they have always been ok. Double check that they have done both angles on the blades.
  13. I am thinking of getting the gm130 but now this thread is giving me doubts. Hoping other 130 owners can chime in about their machine or Pete B to comment on it....
  14. Yeah good point, I've been looking at the rock machinery one too. I think the predator or bandit one would be worth the extra money if going for swivel.
  15. I know they are much smaller machines but does anyone know how the FSI ST20B grinder compares. It still has the advantage of the swivel but it's only 13hp. I don't do many stumps at all so this might be an option for me.
  16. Turned out to be a dodgy wire at the control box in the cab. Obviously an easy and thankfully cheap fix but took a while to find. Cheers for all the replies...... I'll Know where to look next time it stops working!
  17. I say go for it mate. I'm sure people will always in use the right worker with the right attitude new and again and you never knew where it may lead. Where are you based?
  18. I checked both fuses which are fine and tipper still nut working but the led light has now stopped flashing!
  19. Yeah I was thinking electrical
  20. Started to tip the back of my transit this morning and after going up a couple of inches it just stopped and won't do anything now. Interestingly an led light on the back that I had never worked suddenly started flashing at the same time and I can't turn that off now without taking a fuse out. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Cheers
  21. Can anyone recommend any companies in Berkshire who will set up and operate traffic lights etc. Cheers

I'd be interested in prices and specs of saws in the the 60-90cc range mate.
  23. Tamar telecuminications mate. Virtual landline set up in about an hour to mobile plus other numbers if you wish. £6 per month, no long term contact, no extra fees (unless you get over 1000 mins of calls through it a month). Can't go wrong.
  24. Off switch on top of in feed shoot? Fuel switch on? Side cover on properly to make sure sensor is down? If all is good just try pushing in the choke almost straight away.
  25. I've always thought that by reducing the canopy by either reductions or pollards then it would but is there any proof of it?
