  1. Ok so it sounds like you'd need a pretty large high sided trailer to carry a similar capacity then. More likely to be legal though.
  2. Can anyone tell me roughly the m3 of chip that can fit in the average lwb crew cab transit sized chip box. I'm trying to find out which sized tipper trailer would carry a similar volume (all weight limits aside). Many thanks
  3. Coletti, that's the sort of set up I'm thinking of but with a tipper trailer. I think a pickup or small panel van would be idea to go with it to chuck logs into our to just use to transport the chipper when it can be left on site, therefore only turning up in site with one vehicle.
  4. I'm trying to avoid the larger tipper vans but a tipper on a pickup is an expensive option. I reckon you can probably carry more legally on a tipper trailer and it's cheaper to run. I remember on one of those wee chipper threads that there was a picture of the chipper attached to the trailer for transport and chipping. Has anyone tried this?
  5. I'm currently deciding what set up to buy for use with my cs100. Obviously the idea with these chippers is to leave it all on site when possible but sometimes you have to cart it away. So, I'm thinking of a tipper trailer and either pickup or smallish panel van. How do you other wee chipper owners do it?
  6. I've always thought that eating a visor might give you that split second extra time to react that could make the difference in those situations. Maybe it saved you worse damage?
  7. I just bought most parts to it from abbey gardens. Don't a fair bit of price comparison research and they seemed cheapest.
  8. That's what I was thinking. It will obviously work on the 300 by the 265 might be the safer option. Plus it's cheaper!
  9. I recently contacted echo about this as I want to buy one and this was their reply: The PPT-300Es pole pruner is not recommended to be used with the hedge cutter attachment. It is only the PPT-265Es that can be used with the h/c attachment.
  10. I don't get to climb for several months of the year and then when I go back to it I am obviously very out of shape and it hurts!! Can anyone recommend exercises that would help keep the climbing specific muscles a bit toned.... i'm not sure if just doing endless chin ups would cover it.
  11. If they're proper soaked through, I find it's best to turn them inside out before hanging by radiator/fire etc
  12. How wide is it? I reckon the ability to be pushed through the average garden gate is the most important reason for having a wee chipper.
  13. Yeah, white spirit works a treat mate.
  14. Are you a sole trader or ltd co? I'm (newly) ltd and with Barclays which is free for the 1st year then stay charging after that but I may well just keep swapping it each year as lots of banks offer the 1st year free. If you are a sole trader then you do not need a business account.
  15. Check out the Ozzie jobs on arbjobs, some often include sponsorship etc. I think you're correct in saying you're too old for the working via which ends at 30 (i think). Good luck with it tho mate, it was always my plan but never happened in the end but I know people in the trees over there and it's a good life and the money is great!
  16. I've been told that on average a cubic meter of wet chip is around 400kgs.
  17. Try the mesh type ones. Good seal around the eye to stop sawdust and doesn't steam up or really affect vision. You do look like a fly though!
  18. Like William said, it's more like re-doing your normal driving test so if you've been driving a while then bad habits can be hard to rectify.
  19. Can anyone who has tried other makes in this class confirm that the jo beau + or the greenmech cs100 are the only way to go? I've read all the wee chipper threads and I'm thinking of buying a new cs100 but it's a lot of money considering what else you can get second hand for that price.
