  1. Thanks for that Old Mill Tree Care. That was what I thought but just I'd check with you more experienced people. Looks like I'm going to be spending some money.
  2. Thanks for that folks. I hear you on the caution and understanding before going for it on SRT thatoldchestnut.
  3. I'm currently climbing on Blake's and have been looking at upgrading. I had originally been thinking of going down the common route of the hitchclimber. However reading through this thread I'm really liking the look of the Hitch Hiker. I know that as some point I am going to want to give SRT a try even if only for access. I really like the ease of going from SRT to DRT and back with the hitch hiker. As I understand it to climb SRT with a hitch climber I would need to add a rope wrench, whereas with a hitch hiker it's ready to go. Comparing hitch climber plus wrench with a hitch hiker there doesn't seem to be much in it cost wise, in fact the hitch hiker may be a bit cheaper. So before I splash out. Is there any reason that I shouldn't go straight from climbing on a Blake's to a Hitch Hiker? Is there any reason that it would be better to spend a while with the HC first? At this much I'm pretty much sold on trying the Hitch Hiker but just wanted to check incase there were any issues that I hadn't considered.
  4. A company that I used to work for had a credit card account with multiple cards. They then issued every foreman and manager with a card. It didn't matter which fuel station that people needed to stop at and if something cropped up where one of the teams needed to pick something up from a builders merchant that we didn't have an account with or something like that it wasn't a problem. Of course you need to be able to have absolute trust in your staff to go down this route.
  5. I was thinking that I quite liked the look of those boots.
  6. Yes mine are in a National Steve. Positioned in the edge of a woodland. They are on a high spot and in a little bit of a clearing though. There aren't any branches over hanging to drip on them and they can get a bit of sun. They seem to be quite happy there.
  7. Yep. I've got one colony at the moment.
  8. Thanks for that RCO. I've not done my CS41 yet so that has really helped me understand what a zipline is all about.
  9. Yes I can see how that would be a total pain.
  10. Can I be a bit thick? What is LOTS?
  11. Maybe when you go to look at the job and tell them that you'll e-mail the quote to them you could just warn them to keep an eye on their spam box. If they know to check then it won't matter if it does go to spam.
  12. I take Cetirizine too. I find it makes a difference though if I start taking it early and don't wait until I notice the symptoms. Also I take it even on wet low pollen days. If I don't it seems to take a couple of days to really kick in when I start taking it again.
  13. Can you not get your supplier to print out a retail price quote for you without your discount on it? I'm sure that they wouldn't mind if it means that they might get the order.
  14. On my training we were told that that's exactly what you should do. Although I suppose it depends on whether you want / need to do any work on the way up.
  15. I just loosely daisy chain them and pop them in the washing machine.
  16. Yes I thought that anyone using chemicals in a professional capacity already had to have a ticket (unless they were eligible for grandfather rights).
  17. When I first started Bee keeping (didn't even have my own bees at this point) I was asked to strim the association apiary. I was advised to do it early before they were active but the kind soul forgot to suggest I blocked the entrances. THANK GOD I was suited up!!!!!. They were ok until I did the final strip infront of the hives. RUN AWAY!!!!!!!!! It was like something from a cartoon. Thankfully there were only 2 hives there at the time. But even so, 2 hives going full on ape **** both at the same time was scary. Won't ever make that mistake again!
  18. :lol::lol:
  19. Don't think I fancy coming face to face with the entrance of my hive without protection though Gardenmac. Although, I'm fairly happy walking in to the apiary without suiting up, just so long as I'm not tampering with a hive. Definitely agree with you on Wasps Ferguson.
  20. Ouch!!

Don't worry I had never climbed before I did mine. They'll cover everything that you need for the assessment and will start from scratch, so it won't be a problem.
  22. I'm glad it's not just me that cheats like that sometimes.

    Dilemma.

I've always been a bit scared to tinker in the past in case I made things worse. However having been told that the saw was past it was really freeing. After all you can't screw up a scrap saw. Having got stuck in this time I'll certainly be less worried about trying to do my repairs in the future.

    Dilemma.

Yes, I'm dead chuffed. I'm quite attached to this saw it's put food on the table and paid the rent when I've been in some tight spots in the past. It's always been 100% reliable until it packed up the other week. Nice to have it back. It's given me more confidence to tackle my own repairs too. Having stripped it down and put it back together again I won't be so worried about trying in the future.
