  1. Ahh ok. Not bad really. As long as you can get the work in. Reckon a hiab landy with a mobile milling trailer would be a good set up.
  2. Yeah. He's shown me a pic he took. Its working and will last for now but not going to last long term. Have seen a brand new Giant rapide for £600 which i might go for for training. Will last me then. Use the other to do shuttle rides to gym from work (5miles) and sometime the 7 miles home. I wouldn't want to leave the new bike outside the gym.
  3. What kind of rate can you expect cost wise?
  4. Its threaded where it goes into the frame. I suspect he just doesn't want to get involved because he's into flashy expensive bikes. He couldn't get it off. He's just tightened the bottom bracket and from the other side he could see inside and said it was a mess. Think send it up exs dads and see his thoughts as he deals with old stuff. Seen a carrera hybrid gryphon that looked good for the money. And a more touring kind of seating position which might be better as racing handlebars i am finding uncomfortable.
  5. Very true. This was in an access to parkland scenario. So would have been ok i think. Its a bit of a minefield really.
  6. Have been looking at the kit wondering whether is worth buying a set up so interested in your thread. Guess it depends how much timber you need and what you have needs cutting.
  7. Miffed. Bike shop couldn't get crank off. It's been replaced before and threaded into the frame. So all i can do is work it till i kill it. Then i have to go shopping again. £90 down the drain. Will have to buy something new before june.
  8. Certainly in this day and age the straying towards a kissing gate is going to happen. Now that many routes are trying to be disabled friendly although more work its worth considering. There was a section on countryfile about it. Problem with sprung gates is if you have a wheelchair they really make life hard.
  9. Yeah. Why haven't you mentioned the attack dogs, c4 and claymores
  10. Ahh. Doing gym work at the moment til i get my bike back tomorrow.
  11. Like this. Wood is very red. Maybe i am wrong. Already cut into rounds about 18inches.
  12. Looks pretty good that does.
  13. Very true. Basically its doable but it tales a lot of work and resourcefulness. We are lucky in that my uncle has a wood and i help in it but its not really accessible easily and is poor wood at the moment being mostly silver birch. If you are a townie you listen out for buss saws. Local hotel to us had a massive redwood cut down and the wood was in piles in the garden. Dad asked and they wanted shot. Well i have probably got 12 months of wood from that. Two ashes in local pub were cut down so same scenario. But them you are into needing a chainsaw, log splitter. Big enough wood store. Sometimes you just can't beat a quick phone call. Pay the money and take a break and know you have good dry wood.
  14. Classic
  15. Was a gift off family initially but really enjoyed it and help out now. Nothing quite as physical as proper work. My dads a lot fitter since he now splits all his own firewood by hand!
  16. No chance
  17. They are quite meticulous up the wood on cataloging what they have and trying to promote mix of woods. They run craft courses up there and been learning that and lots about identifying species too. Has been great fun but as no power tools used very physical!! Never ached so much! Did this for 4 hours for 2 days making shelving and chairs.
  18. This week the other main branches are coming off to balance it and thinned back. Guess it can be observed over the growing season to see how it responds. Its not a well walked path and if it goes over they are only shoots at the moment so no real harm done.
  19. Really? Damn. Its a minefield. Most of my mates have boardman comp hybrids. Guess i am cheap. I have the money but well i am trying for a mortgage so needs must.
  20. Awwww My sister rang me. Quite frantic and upset yesterday. 5 year old nice went to school with no knickers on yesterday. My sister hadn't realised. When asked my niece said " it was a hot day i didn't think i would need them!!!"
  21. Yeah. Halfords need to improve their core knowledge on fixing bikes though and using buying power for parts. They have some good bikes at ok prices now. Theres a carrera for £300 i saw this week.
  22. Really?? Could have sworn he mentioned it in an interview. My bad
  23. Today i have been stood in complete darkness in a rubber suit with 2 breathing tanks on my back for what seemed like no apparent reason !! P.s i am confined spaces rescue certified Oh and surprise of surprises. More silver birch has dropped up the woods so tomorrow a chopping i will go.
