  1. Wow, i do hope you never need the help of one of the organisations that benefit from comic relief. Anyone know the story of how comic relief came into being? Richard curtis was in africa at a hospital and they were weighing kids. This is done with a sling thing like big pants. The kids kept slipping through and the mothers were laughing so much. He though hmm maybe by making people laugh we could help them. I don't watch the whole night. It upsets me. I've done bits and pieces. I run til it hurts or cycle or carry my bike when it breaks because i can. Does it make me feel better, maybe, but i can't donate from my pocket the kind of money i would like to. But what is easy is texting yes to 70010 Not hard and pretty sure most people who have seen fit to comment can afford it.
  2. Find mine which are a bit rough but aged and cracked earn me £25+ because they'll sit nicely in a garden
  3. Most running events i do i get sponsorship for. Doing 100miles in a day cycle for charity in may
  4. I donate but don't watch. Being a wuss i cry at dying babies but draw a limit at seeing one direction perfectly made up stood beside said dying baby.
  5. Damn i knew i shouldn't have gone for the budget postage option. They did say it was last in stock as stock had been going out the door fast since the change in weather.
  6. Interested but...... Do they come flatpacked? Cos I haven't got a good history with them. I recently got a flat pack snowman but when it arrived there was just 2 buttons and a carrot in the soggy box !!
  7. For me i think that would work alongside the stuff you know. Good to get a feel of things.
  8. You could always subby for people local to you. Not all the time but to suit and get experience of different jobs that way too
  9. May contain horse
  10. Its relative. He sounds like its merely extending his base of knowledge and branching out (groan)
  11. The thing with health and safety and with public liability also is a key phrase. "All that is reasonably practicable" It is reasonably practicable to expect you to have what they deem as proof that you are competent to do the task at hand. You might be able to do the job but should anything go wrong then you need your arse covered. If you don't have the experience even with the certs you might be deemed to not be up to it. All depends what you want to do. Small little domestic jobs or bigger?
  12. I know somewhere in worcester does £160 a load. Also worth ringing round large independent road sweeper companies. I can get few tonnes for free. But 500 is pushing it a bit!
  13. From experience birch will rot very quickly if in contact with the ground. Uncle has about an acre of silver birch and when the trees fall they start deteriorating in weeks unless cut and covered.
  14. Fact! Just having come off the worcester beacon having rescued a chavs citroen 150ft from top. ( he'd broken padlock on gate to get there and driven through a blizzard).
  15. This looks handy but can only see them for sale stateside
  16. Wow that really shows the changes
  17. My niece is very caring. Always looks after my sis when shes sick. Shes obviously learnt some skills because when she was over at ours ( i live with parents) dad wasn't feeling great. She told him to lie on the sofa and said " i'll get the important things you need to feel better" Dad said "whats that then?" " oh a blanket, chocolate and Jack Daniels" To say we were gobsmacked was an understatement.
  18. I have a pretty good set of chisels and scrapers. Picking a new wet dry sharpener up thursday so will sharpen tools to prestine. Have found a new rest too so can eliminate any undue vibration. Happy to practise on this wood. It was a very cheap lot i had from auction. Good to cut my teeth on so to speak.
  19. Ah ok. I have some cellulose stuff that I've been using towards the end of turning to just get a better finish. Brings the colour out nicely. Thanks
  20. Had a go at some spalt wood. Bit open grain really for a good finish but with some work.... When new chuck arrives will trim the base down so it looks like a lil cauldron.
  21. I have a pretty good digital slr (hs10 fuji) and tripod i could bring on the day too. Its pretty handy for movie ( though never used) that i could set up at a distance for some wide angle shots.
  22. I am seriously thinking that way. Do they go for much? Saw a cherry picker landy for £8k
  23. Wheres the position based? Might help?
