  1. Like this? http://bit.ly/Xu8KuD
  2. Technically my body is telling me that too however I'm a stubborn old goat and do insist
  3. I do the mud runs at eastnor and will be doing total warrior in august near shap. I want to do the rat race at burleigh which is 20miles which i certainly am not fit enough for but i am a resistant sod lol
  4. Always found for strength literally two legged jump onto a box will do no end good. Hill walking and if you do running etc picking hills to sprint up. I don't climb for a living but i am up and down ladders in man holes. Sometimes with heavy weights on my back. I also do running events like mudruns at eastnor. I'm no string bean at 15.5 stone but i'm not unfit.
  5. Stopped at a junction down a country lane near buckingham last week and spotted what looked like a baking tray embedded in a tree. Was white enameled as well. Quite bizarre
  6. Well yes. Just a builders bag size.
  7. Ive got a 742:/ Guess its just a hobby saw for small stuff then
  8. Mine has been said to be erm phallic somewhat!
  9. Would that make it good for smoking applications?
  10. As promised.
  11. We just look on eBay and gumtree when we need some. Price tends to vary according to the weather a bit. We are Malvern based. You can get a pallet of heat logs in Hereford for £250 delivered which can last months. Price of firewood can be whatever you want. If you live in a village and there's someone who just sells a few bags a week at a slightly inflated price people will often go with that just for ease.
  12. Wow that's steep. We pay £75 for seasoned split oak per bag delivered
  13. The outer doesn't look like eucalyptus to me. I have some rounds of that and the bark is quite unusual. I'm thinking yew. Looks very like some rounds I have been offered. Pity it's been split. At about £10 a foot for a 5-6 inch round it's a good little wood with great finish.
  14. I guess with scaling up there becomes a requirement for larger machinery and so costs initially will increase plus the work has to be there to justify it. By being a small niche specialized operation there's the chance of a higher rate but less work. Swings and roundabouts
  15. I basically have half a shed of stuff to go on my 90 but not the time. At a crossroads with it. If I start work properly in forestry etc then it'll be too small.
  16. The rest won't tighten properly to the pole so there's some lateral movement. Really I new to service it and replace a few parts. Pretty sure first is ash yes. I bought a box of 10 rounds at auction in Ledbury. None labelled. The second is walnut. That was really nice to work with. I have some rounds of eucalyptus seasoning in saw dust in the garage at the moment too. Tried a piece of cherry but that's hard to work with. Big chunk came off. Was hoping to make a band to fit into this to give an unusual look.
  17. Thanks. It can with a very short rest so keeping an eye out for a longer one. I am just doing it for relaxation and wind down after work at the moment. Something very relaxing about making a shape and smoothing it and watching the grain come out.
  18. Turned back to front that might work for someone
  19. I've only just started turning and this thread has been very informative thanks. Here's a couple of the things I've had a go at. Pretty basic really but teaching myself. I am running a Clarke with 5 speed. The rest isn't up to much though which is proving problematic!
  20. Mainly out of necessity? Same here
  21. Don't worry. Where are you? They're usually 110 utilties ones that you can cut down. Some have the support arms so can come a little forward of the cab. I'll message him in the morning if you like.
  22. Wow. Makes my attempt with a chainsaw look positively amateur though I will say after leaving it in woods for a year to age and moss up a bit I think it looks pretty rustic. Pic to follow in daylight p.s was first time on chainsaw
  23. I'll ask him if there's one about.
  24. You chaps looking for roof racks, would ones like on 110 utilities do you? Might be able to put you in touch with someone if they will.
  25. I have two options in harnesses. I have full rescue one which has the lanyard at the back or a standard waist and leg harness.
