  1. I went past half hour ago and it’s still there. Something is not right about it.
  2. Might well be completely innocent but it was parked on a local layby where thieves often leave stolen vehicles for a few days. Does anybody know this vehicle? Some times thieves leave machinery in the lay-by next to the Crocky Trail for 24 hours in case they have a tracker on them.? It was parked there a 6,25 this evening.
  3. If it has been there 3 years it is probably already rotting, they don't last long lying down. I have never done it but would expect splitting them to speed up the rotting process very fast, the only preservative/treatment worth a damn is creosote (not creocote). Can be bought in 20 litre drums from ag merchants but not cheap.
  4. Mum (80) has had a hernia for a while, she has now decided to get it sorted. Quite a wait on NHS so decided to go private. £3k I think. If it were me I'd be finding £3k before going through the NHS, local hospital does not have a good rep.
  5. I have a boundary that is jointly owned. It is about 100 yards long and either party is free to reduce the height to 10' without having to ask the other party. It is currently circa 100' tall.
  6. How high is it now and how high is he proposing to reduce it to?
  7. Agree to cut every three years would be a good compromise.
  8. Just to take a photo
  9. The strangest sign I ever saw was on a junction of two dirt roads in Australia, this junction was at least 30 miles from the nearest bit of tarmac. Any vehicle going down the track would have made headline news in a local paper if there was one. Wide open space, no limit on vision etc etc. The sign said "Stop". Not Give Way or anything like that, just Stop. No idea why it was even there and a lot more people will read this post than ever read the sign.
  10. It means the same here with the added caveat of "probably not, you may as well give it a go as there is no diversion route signed". The lighting boards above motorways have a similar interpretation when displaying "Caution, Workers in road". Translates as "almost certainly isn't but we thought if you slowed right down it would be a fun way to pee you off". All sorts of arguments to this but the boy who cried wolf is how I see it.
  11. Too busy looking at the bollocks of a mess they made of the trees in front of the lights.
  12. At one time I would think nothing much of it but these days it just makes me shudder and pay for someone else to do it.
  13. Had to read it twice.
  14. There have been two more within a very short distance of the above Must be a dodgy spot for trees. According to FB there's a whole tree down tonight.
  15. If you are VAT registered you should be able to tell the seller this and they don't charge VAT when you tell them your number. Whether this is still the case post Brexit I am not sure but do think it is. Your accountant should be the one to know. You still have to charge it when you sell. (I am not an accountant)
  16. Local road blocked this morning
  17. Casts a new light on the "McAfee has expired" popup I repeatedly get on my pc.
  18. My missus has a rare disease of the toenails and although she hasn't lost any yet (the foot doctor wanted to take them off ages ago) she will lose all of them eventually.
  19. Not if I was driving it you wouldn't.
  20. Me too, it does my blood pressure no good at all.
  21. I genuinely wish you the best of luck but I can't see it being any benefit to you other than you be allowed to carry on trading. Would love to know the pay a log policeman gets compared to a log seller. Please forgive me if I seem bitter, I think it both a shame and shameful that the working people of this country are so hindered by the bureaucracy relentlessly taking a tighter grip on every aspect of our lives. I am a farmer by trade and have a lot of experience with the box tickers and can't be doing with them. In the post war years the government supplied an army of people whose job it was to make sure you did as well as you possibly could. They would advise on all aspects of farming from fertilisers, sprays, animal husbandry etc etc. These days there is still an army of folk coming from the government but now it seems their job is to do anything they can to stop you from getting on, if by no other means than tying you up in paperwork and gold plating any EU directive they could. Woodsure is just another one of a long list and there will be more. Look at the NHS, massive government funding that has led to more managers than doctors nurses and patients, all with their ever so important non jobs.
  22. Have they started recruiting the log police yet? WTF is this country coming to FFS! You can have child porn on your phone and get away with it as long as you are black, female and a police officer, never mind what manner of things you can get away with if you live in a caravan but woe betide anybody selling a log without paying for a certificate.
  23. I expect if you really dug into it there is nothing in the rules that actually cover it and Robert has just made it up. Give it a bit more time and you will be told exactly where the logo must be displayed, what colour it has to be, what font type and size any wording must be and exact measurements and weights of every load you sell along with a certificate of the exact moisture content as measured by their calibrated meter. Thin end of the wedge this lot and will go down the same road as Red Tractor and all the other "assurance" schemes out there. People have been buying logs for thousands of years and now the seller needs a certification scheme? Can't believe people are going along with it tbh then again non of the other certification schemes are much different. We are supposed to be a country of shopkeepers, more like a country of clipboard holders and box tickers these days.
  24. I have seen a lot of it all over the place mostly individual trees/bushes, my missus wouldn't believe me when I said what it was. Must be a good/bad year for them.
  25. I never had you down as a cocktail drinker tbh.
