  1. Not surprising, he is an idiot.
  2. I don't see an intrinsic weakness in 1.1mm gauge, though I don't use it. But the only person I know who does use Stihl's PMM3, has had cutters detach from more than one chain.
  3. If Seat is anything like Fiat, you can't turn the heater/cooler right off. If it's set to cold but off, there's always cold air that comes through, just not blasted through by fan. And if it's set to hot but off, there's always hot air that comes through, just not blasted through by fan. Another possible, is that your rheo stat is on its way out.
  4. Is the fuel cap breather ok?
  5. Try here: http://www.chainsawbars.co.uk/
  6. I seem to remember that Echo quote the weight of their saw inclusive of bar & chain. Whereas I know neither Husky nor Stihl do. I don't know about the others. If you're going to calc the kW to weight ratio, you might aswell include full tanks of fuel & bar oil, plus the weight of bar & chain as supplied, (or bar & chain as desired). Without the full setup, how can you truly state the kW to weight ratio. As has been suggested, trying to compare weights of heated and non-heated handle saws by different manufacturers, is an exercise in pointlessness. If you really want heated handles. Just include those saws that have them. Back to the drawing board.
  7. Next one will be Sugi Hara instead of Husky and that won't be long now. The Husky has done ok but if I had been cutting everyday, it would've lasted less than 6mths. Just in case you're wondering, I've cleaned it after each day's use, flipped the bar and greased its nose.
  8. What are Efco and Solo like for spares availability? I hope you won't need a lot of spares but during the saw's lifetime, you're going to need some. You don't want to save a bundle on the saw, only to pay international carriage on all your spares.

I doubt it. You'd need the Husky software and I can't see them giving out free copies of it.

    Selling saws😥

Sell the 135 & 171 but keep the 346. As you say, it's ported, so it won't be down much on the 550. Besides, as said, it'll be a good backup. If you have to sell all three to fund just one and the ported 346 isn't enough for you. Then skip the 550 and go straight to the 560. On the other hand, you're saying "... now all the trees have gone from the garden." Just keep the 346, it sounds like you're not going to be using it much now.

    Selling saws😥

What saws exactly are you selling? And what do you want?

Saying you want to run a 16" bar suggests you're cutting bigger rounds. But if you like the MS250 at work, have a look at what you can do with an MS251 on 14", plus it's nice music.

The problem with that is, as one cuts bits off the hog, it's no longer whole. Perhaps two then - one for consumption and one for show. Also, I think there's missing thoughts there.. equality. If he has scantily clad lasses, he also has to have scantily clad lads. Comfy beds. Perhaps you need to miss the next APF and get yourself off to DFS.

    Kamikaze Cutter

How does this guy make a living? Perhaps he takes bets on himself surviving. It starts to get interesting around the 3m 50s mark.

Stihl MS 260 to Husky. Try a 545 at a push or 550. Or you could go Echo and save some money.

A 1yr. old 365 for £250... and why haven't you bitten their hand off? Plus it'll suit your needs.

    I stand corrected.

If you're doing your first tickets, the max. bar length is 15". So the MS241 C-M would have to be equipped with a 14". Though Stihl state it'll run 14", 16" 18"; I reckon it'd struggle on 18" and excel on 14". And the MS261 C-M would have to be equipped with a 15", as why would one put a 13" bar on a 261?. Though Stihl state it'll run 13", 15", 16", 18"; I reckon it'd be good on 16 and not bad on 18", though it would be pushing it some. And excel on 15 or 13". (I'd avoid the MS 261 C-MB quick chain tensioning. Seems like less fuss but apparently is not. (More money I know but more comfy in cold weather and a help against HAV, would be the MS 261 C-M VW, which has heated handles.))
  23. Did you know that beck coming down the Keswick side of Honister, is a grade G5+ whitewater run? Has to be really pumping to be runnable.

His father is recovering from surgery - Madeira while beautiful, is also steep, steep, steep everywhere you go. You don't want to kill the fellow.
