  1. You lucky lucky b...
  2. Somewhat on the humid side I suspect. I'm glad I won't be in CS strides today.
  3. I reckon he'd get a faster cut, if he turned the saw off and just used it with the sawing action. I think his mind is about as sharp as that chain. So a good pairing.
  4. He had/has a chimney but no earthing conductor... puzzled I am. Mind in these times. If you fitted one, the scum would be round to tear it off your house before the kettle boiled.
  5. For a short while, it poured during the night but now it's dry again, though cloudy a feels chilly. I dare say it's not actual a chill, just the glowering sky and light wind that makes it so by comparison to weather of late.
  6. Hey! Get behind the others in the queue.
  7. Can't see the saw having done only 15hrs. but still, the Alaskan, bars & chains, (providing they in good nick) would set you back not far off the total asking price. Throw in the saw too and you have yourself a bargain.

    Crackin' Idea!

You wouldn't want to fly with one, due to the weight. And I can foresee there'd be booking-in holdups everywhere you'd go.
  9. Sorry. I didn't mean to offend you in any way. You gave plenty of info, without having to be asked for more. The joke was not about you or your knowledge base but simple a wisecrack on my part. Once again, I apologise for the quip.

    Stuck bolt!

Good suggestion that; better than mine.
  11. Ok, so he's forcing the small log a bit. Whereas the petrol one was demonstrated with slightly heavier logs, so their weight was enough to carry each piece down though the cut on its own. I don't see it as being that bad.
  12. Did you have to install the small child before positioning table or after?

    Stuck bolt!

I presume you've tried the obvious; turn the bolts clockwise to partcially tighten, before attempting to loosen. Together with above but a good soak with penetrating oil first, leave and then quick blast with a bit more, before attempting the tighten & loosening. Heat with decent blowtorch, then ratchet the thing off. If it goes all honey-shaped. You'll just have to drill and Helicoil.
  14. Bit of a shock to the system that. Yesterday was predominantly hot with cool night. Today promises more of the same dry weather. Must have a look around for much needed sacrifices. Note to self. Wave hands more. Get that chanting done.
  15. Looking at these and other like vids, it does rather seem that young goats like being atop things, animals or people. Thanks for the links, they have made me smile.
  16. Tested again yesterday and noticed a slight error with my last post. The 20.3Mbps is a wi-fi result. Her wired connection has risen to 37+Mbps. When I'm up north, I rarely get even 1Mbps download on a wired connection; the avg. is less than half that and I pay the same money.
  17. Did you pay by card? If you did, I suggest you instruct the card issuer to cancel the transaction and recover the loss.
  18. ... holidays in Cypress California and has a timeshare in Scotland. Good luck with your tree.
  19. I missed that but will watch it here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b041m6fh/the-magic-of-mushrooms and available for 6 days from 15th July.
  20. "Ate they having a laugh" Only if you buy it.

    CCTV Deals

Not saying they're the best or the b-all & end-all but there's some deals at Toolstation at the mo'. I like the outback cameras Toolstation for £80. I know they themselves can be easily stolen but for photo capture of wildlife, (probably no good against scum). Also like the idea of wireless PIR sonic alarms as a supplement against scum, under £20. There is other stuff too.
  22. My mother recently changed from an old BT router, to a new BT router. Same external cabling and less money but her Ping was reduced by a third, avg. upload went from 1.5Mbps to 9.2+Mbps and avg. download went from 4.9Mbps to 20.3Mbps. When I exchanged it, I reused the same after-market internal cabling.
  23. I heard a while back of a guy, (works for a well known computing mag) who tried to get connected to fibre, which he new was in his area. The fibre had recently been run along his street and had even been routed under the guttering; so he could see the actual stuff. When he got in contact with BT, he was informed, that even though there was a fibre cable to and from the local box, which was less than 200m from his house. That there weren't enough households in that area, that had expressed interest in fibre. So the fibre in that particular box wouldn't be switch on. He then made it a point to ask all his neighbours via mail-shot in his street and streets either side for their opinion on this and without exception nobody even knew of the existence of fibre in their immediate area. Turns out, he only knew about it from contacts in comms. He then wrote to BT and was informed that since none of his neighbours had expressly asked about a fibre connection, BT had deemed it not worthy of advertising the recent installation. And further, BT's decision to not do so, had been proven correct, when no one had then asked to be transferred to the new fibre. So for the foreseeable future, the fibre would remain in place. But BT would not tell anyone it was there, nor would the box be switched over and as far as they were concerned. It was enough to be able to say to government, that another area had cable, even though they would not actually connect anyone to it. He thought this was utter lunacy and I'm inclined to agree with him.
  24. You have a secondary index finger on your left hand?
