  1. What wood is the box made from? Only kidding.
  2. It's a milk-crate you stand on to reach the top of whatever you're pruning.
  3. In short - yes!
  4. Well that didn't take long. Cloud base is around 1800ft; not really rain but a comforting dampness in the air.
  5. Well the day's got yesterday's promise. Warm but disconcertly dry. I'll have to start the chanting, the dancing and the live sacrificing again.
  6. As far as I'm aware you can run it in any modern saw. The MS200 might need tweeking slightly but the 550XP's 'Autotune' should sort itself out. After all, Husky run their saws, etc. on Aspen in the factory, so should be no real problems. I've run my 545 on Aspen since new and it's not missed a beat. As to working with it. It has got its own smell but it's hardly anything and burns so much cleaner. Not only for the plug, pot & exhaust. But also nicer for your body, especially when working in confined areas. Do yourself a favour and run Aspen.
  7. It's important to mark spam as 'spam', before getting rid of it. If you simply delete it, your software filters learn nothing. But if you mark the offending ones as spam, then any from the same address regardless of title, will automatically be put in the spam folder Remember to keep your general software and virus checker up to date, especially with any security patches. Saves a bit of time in the long run.
  8. It might help if more info was given: Species - Avg. length - Avg. dia. - tonnage - seasoned or not.
  9. Is that the Wood Chuck Jack you're selling? And if it is; how much £s cash, if I collect it in person from you at the Arb Show on Friday? Send me a PM if you're interested with price.

    Dead Fir removal

Yep. It can be a pain sometimes. But a solution in this case: • Switch to your main screen of apps • Open You Tube from its app icon • Enter 'dead fir removal', only without the apostrophes • You should then be able to view the vid
  11. You might have to use a photo hosting website, e.g. 'Photobucket' or the like.
  12. So being an Aspen user, can lead to a shiny new thing addiction. It doesn't tell you that on the label!
  13. As to the above - it's a slippery slope. Now you've done it once, you'll have the urge to do it more often. Nice one on the '38.
  14. That gave me a much needed chuckle. It might foggy out but it's too warm inside to sleep; been awake since 04:00. Still, fed the cat, done the washing-up, packed gear for the day and fed cat again. Now if the sun would make an appearance...
  15. If it's not on the test schedule, it doesn't get tested.
  16. Once got jammed in roadworks outside Raglan, when some office-bod had decided to resurface the roundabout during a bank holiday. It was a memorable half mile, that took me 2hrs.
  17. I had thought but now think I'm incorrect in my belief, that the laser etching was purely to identify the batch. So if something were to fail, the manufacturer could look into that particular batch. And or if they'd had a few from the same batch, with the same reported problem, that things could move apace.
  18. Sounds good. Not got a laburnum I could fell down there instead?
  19. Well the forecast was for rain and it was not wrong. Only have a small windblown laburnum to fell. Some of which is being given to a turner in exchange for a finished bowl/platter.
  20. No problem there, as we were out in the woods prepping the hives before siting.
  21. Out of interest, what is the melt temp. of bees' wax? Melting some yesterday in a barrel stove, to coat the top bars of two warre hives and it took ages.
  22. The wide open views of Esthwaite Water... have changed a little since I was there last.
  23. Ah I see. On a slightly different note. Why is it so difficult to pry one of those covers open, to access what lays beneath when you need to. Yet one corner can be just proud of the surface, so you half trip every time your foot passes by?
  24. How the heck, does one not notice an inspection cover?
  25. Yep. All my climbing kit has a particular pattern of insulation tape adorning it. In a world of colour, it's no surprise that others will have the same kit as you. Always easier to put an identifier in place. Same goes for some of my saw kit. Helmet, 1st aid kit, scabbard, fuel can, sharpening kit. You get the idea; anything where someone else is likely to have same brand & model. Saves time, hassle and minimises loss from innocent mix ups.
