Evening Guys, Have just missed the best of the fleet and am left looking at one on a '55 plate but 155k miles. Is this mileage a problem on a 35c14 crew cab tipper (ex-council)? I could go for the other one (70k miles) but don't have the funds. Regards, Steve.

Evening Guys, I'm looking at a couple of '55 plate Iveco crew cab tippers that are part of a batch that came from Monmouthshire County Council through the auctions and are cropping up around the country. Just looking for a heads up if anyone knows these trucks, is there a particularly good/bad one etc. Would appreciate any advice. By pm if you'd rather. Many thanks, Steve.

What's the best hook to clip chainsaw to harness
Arbtech Tree Services replied to jack-tosdevine's topic in General chat
The smaller one seems to be up to the job (and it's cheaper:thumbup:), well i haven't broken it yet. Having said that i'm only thinking of the 201T. Larger saws i use a krab on the steel ring in the strop and clip to my right side D:blushing: as only the rear attachment loop on the harness is rated to hang a saw (Sequoia SRT). As for where to buy, for me it's local - Forest Park and Garden, not sure if Rhys does mail order though? HTH Steve. -

FOLLOW THESE 14 SIMPLE TESTS BEFORE YOU DECIDE TO HAVE CHILDREN. Test 1 - Preparation Women: To prepare for pregnancy:- 1. Put on a dressing gown and stick a beanbag down the front. 2. Leave it there. 3. After 9 months remove 5% of the beans. Men: To prepare for children:- 1. Go to a local chemist, tip the contents of your wallet onto the counter and tell the pharmacist to help himself. 2. Go to the supermarket. Arrange to have your salary paid directly to their head office. 3. Go home. Pick up the newspaper and read it for the last time. Test 2 - Knowledge Find a couple who are already parents and berate them about their methods of discipline, lack of patience, appallingly low tolerance levels and how they have allowed their children to run wild. Suggest ways in which they might improve their child's sleeping habits, toilet training, table manners and overall behavior. Enjoy it. It will be the last time in your life that you will have all the answers. Test 3 - Nights To discover how the nights will feel: 1. Walk around the living room from 5pm to 10pm carrying a wet bag weighing approximately 4 - 6kg, with a radio turned to static (or some other obnoxious sound) playing loudly. 2. At 10pm, put the bag down, set the alarm for midnight and go to sleep. 3. Get up at 11pm and walk the bag around the living room until 1am. 4. Set the alarm for 3am. 5. As you can't get back to sleep, get up at 2am and make a cup of tea. 6. Go to bed at 2.45am. 7. Get up again at 3am when the alarm goes off. 8. Sing songs in the dark until 4am. 9. Put the alarm on for 5am. Get up when it goes off. 10. Make breakfast. Keep this up for 5 years. LOOK CHEERFUL. Test 4 - Dressing Small Children 1. Buy a live octopus and a string bag. 2. Attempt to put the octopus into the string bag so that no arms hang out. Time Allowed: 5 minutes. Test 5 - Cars 1. Forget the BMW. Buy a practical 5-door wagon. 2. Buy a chocolate ice cream cone and put it in the glove compartment. Leave it there. 3. Get a coin. Insert it into the CD player. 4. Take a box of chocolate biscuits; mash them into the back seat. 5. Run a garden rake along both sides of the car. Test 6 - Going For a Walk Wait. Go out the front door. Come back in again. Go out. Come back in again. Go out again. Walk down the front path. Walk back up it. Walk down it again. Walk very slowly down the road for five minutes. Stop, inspect minutely and ask at least 6 questions about every piece of used chewing gum, dirty tissue and dead insect along the way. Retrace your steps. Scream that you have had as much as you can stand until the neighbours come out and stare at you. Give up and go back into the house. You are now just about ready to try taking a small child for a walk. Test 7 Repeat everything you say at least 5 times. Test 8 - Grocery Shopping 1. Go to the local supermarket. Take with you the nearest thing you can find to a pre-school child - a fully grown goat is excellent. If you intend to have more than one child, take more than one goat. 2. Buy your weekly groceries without letting the goat(s) out of your sight. 3. Pay for everything the goat eats or destroys. Until you can easily accomplish this, do not even contemplate having children. Test 9 - Feeding a 1 year-old 1. Hollow out a melon. 2. Make a small hole in the side. 3. Suspend the melon from the ceiling and swing it side to side. 4. Now get a bowl of soggy cornflakes and attempt to spoon them into the swaying melon while pretending to be an aeroplane. 5. Continue until half the cornflakes are gone. 6. Tip the rest into your lap, making sure that a lot of it falls on the floor. Test 10 - TV 1. Learn the names of every character from the Wiggles, Barney, Teletubbies and Disney. 2. Watch nothing else on television for at least 5 years. Test 11 - Mess Can you stand the mess children make? To find out: 1. Smear peanut butter onto the sofa and jam onto the curtains. 2. Hide a fish behind the stereo and leave it there all summer. 3. Stick your fingers in the flowerbeds and then rub them on clean walls. Cover the stains with crayon. How does that look? 4. Empty every drawer/cupboard/storage box in your house onto the floor & leave it there. Test 12 - Long Trips with Toddlers 1. Make a recording of someone shouting 'Mummy' repeatedly. Important Notes: No more than a 4 second delay between each Mummy. Include occasional crescendo to the level of a supersonic jet. 2. Play this tape in your car, everywhere you go for the next 4 years. You are now ready to take a long trip with a toddler. Test 13 - Conversations 1. Start talking to an adult of your choice. 2. Have someone else continually tug on your shirt hem or shirt sleeve while playing the Mummy tape listed above. You are now ready to have a conversation with an adult while there is a child in the room. Test 14 - Getting ready for work 1. Pick a day on which you have an important meeting. 2. Put on your finest work attire. 3. Take a cup of cream and put 1 cup of lemon juice in it. 4. Stir. 5. Dump half of it on your nice silk shirt. 6. Saturate a towel with the other half of the mixture. 7. Attempt to clean your shirt with the same saturated towel. 8. Do not change (you have no time). 9. Go directly to work. I'm sure there are plenty more all you other parents can add

Big thanks to the lads at Greenmech :)
Arbtech Tree Services replied to dave126k's topic in General chat
That sounds like Mac, he's a star. Greenmech were fantastic when my machine needed sorting outside of warranty - can't speak highly enough of them. -
Once, when trying to locate them, i typed 'Gay and Hunt' into Google :w00t::w00t: NEVER AGAIN..... Having said that, when i got up there they were a great bunch and great prices. Shame it's half a tank of diesel to get there and back, Rhys is as far as i can stretch at Forest Park and Garden. Smashed £40 off the internet benchmarks without even haggling on the last MS660:thumbup:

A standard scaffold decked out at 1.2m centre supports is rated at 2.00 kN m2 - don't know what B&Q's decking is rated at?
-
Depending on their grade, scaffold boards are either 1.2m or 1.5m centres for support. The super boards rated at 1.5m came in and to be honest were no better than standard, the sellers just charged a premium for them when there was a worldwide shortage of scaffold boards in 2006. HTH Steve.

Ok...23' fast fishing/diving boat on trailer here - 23' Wilson Flyer fast fishing boat | eBay Swap for good TP200 turntable (road tow) or 2008+ Iveco 3.5T white single cab tipper with straight ram. Sorry, don't need any trainers:001_tongue: Regards, Steve.

Agreed. When replacing the nicked 025 and 357xp i went for the 550. If i'd have known i would be picking up a 346 on Fleabay a week later i'd have gone for the 560 without a doubt.
-
025 was the first saw i bought many moons ago and was using it up until it got nicked with the others about eight months ago, any chance of first dibs on the estate's one as i have a load of chains to use up? The 550xp is a step up in size (slightly) and runs well at 15" especially on the .050 narrow kerf chain and bar. I run one of them and it's predecessor the 346xp and wouldn't change the 550 for anything. The quick acceleration for snedding is really good and i like the little things like the stop switch popping itself back up afterwards so it's ready to restart. I've used the 560xp which has more grunt and will handle an 18" bar but is a little heavier. Having raved about these saws i've gone back to Stihl for the MS660 (25" and 36") and i absolutely love it, the topper is a 201T. I can't speak for the MS260 as i've never tried one, but the old 021/023/025 were domestic versions, the MS260 (now MS261) is a more pro saw. HTH, Steve.

Probably didn't reply as it became 'no longer available' shortly afterwards.....it'd only been on for a few hours. Despite only 70 hours use he must have towed it round and round the island 24hrs a day to wear out the hitch in order for it to need replacing (along with the lock:sneaky2:)
-
Is it me being cynical? Lindana Wood Chipper with 360 rotation and own engine | eBay Shetland Isles can deliver at buyer's cost, new seller with zero feedback, only 70 hours and looks well looked after but the hitch and lock have had to be replaced?

TP200 turntable - what to look for?
Arbtech Tree Services replied to Arbtech Tree Services's topic in Large equipment
Thanks Pete, in accordance with my luck i phoned Osbournes this morning only to be told that they were in the process of removing it from their website as it had been sold. I'm wondering if the part ex clearance TP760 might be worth a punt at £2.5k? At that money it would only have to work for a few weeks then onto Fleabay and it'd be cheaper than hiring. Given the state of the machines that CBL have given me recently it can't be much worse. Pity as i think that that 19-28 was quite a good machine until it joined their hire fleet - with that and their (lack of) customer service it's no wonder they're not your dealers anymore..... Wanted to try the Quadchip the other week whilst my CS100 blades were being sharpened as i had a couple of hours work for one, but at £180 including the VAT for a day's hire i gave it a miss. I like the look of the Quadchip as i really want a turntable, but i really want something a bit bigger. 8" seems about right but 10" machines are getting too heavy, hence why i'm looking at the TP200. As the 200's don't come up very often i might just give this 760 a go - if it hasn't already been sold:angry: Regards, Steve. -
TP200 turntable - what to look for?
Arbtech Tree Services replied to Arbtech Tree Services's topic in Large equipment
Many thanks bb:thumbup: -
Hi Guys, My hunt for a good Iveco tipper has been interrupted by the appearance of a second hand 2005 TP200 turntable for £6k. Ivecos turn up every day but these don't so i want to grab it while i can. I'd love a new one but don't have £26k:sad: I can tell if an engine is running right and i know what a noisy bearing sounds like and what an oil leak looks like, so if it chips ok i'm thinking it should be ok? So for those familiar with this model (i've only used the 150 version), is there anything specific to look for? Many thanks in advance, Steve.

Is Ash the only wood you can burn green ?
Arbtech Tree Services replied to woodland dweller's topic in Firewood forum
Recently gave the Father in Law some Laurel cut that day 4" to 6" diameter and he stuck it straight in the log burner without splitting. Told him it won't do the flue any good and he just said 'when can i have some more, that was bloody great?' -
Iveco 35 S 12 any good please?
Arbtech Tree Services replied to Arbtech Tree Services's topic in Arb-Trucks
Many thanks for all your replies. As per usual for Fleabay it has just disappeared 2004 (54) IVECO DAILY 35 S 12 TIPPER | eBay obviously sold privately. The cheaper one is a scissor type so will avoid. I'll keep my eyes open now, it'll be a single cab 3500kg in white with a straight ram - budget of £4k. There's a nice one locally but a bit pricey plus the money's not in yet. Many thanks, Steve.
