  1. We use Dewalt corded and cordless power tools and have yet to have a problem. The trick is to use the right tool for the job and they'll last for years.
  2. The vat reg debate is largely academic. If you register turnover over 79k then you have no choice. The benefits are whats already been mentioned like 20% cheaper fuel, equipment, vehicles, etc against the odd job you might lose because a punter doesn't like paying tax. Best option get into commercial work, vat then isn't an issue as 99% of companies will already be vat'd anyway.
  3. Good purchase. we've the exact same model.... ours is out today and saving us loads of time hauling away brush wood.......
  4. :biggrin:yep, liking that.... ride it to the clients house, cut their lawn and ride home... think how fit you'd be..!!!!!
  5. Unbelievable... This whole spate has got to be an organised gang or gangs.... Not the odd theft here and there.... I'd 12 Bore the lot of them..... Scum of the planet....
  6. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QzfWyR3D7eI&feature=youtube_gdata_player]??????? ???? ?? ????? ??????? - YouTube[/ame] Have a look at this... Hopefully the link will work...
  7. Its terrible that an expensive main dealer can't diagnose a split hose... They charge a fortune and can't fix a simple fault. Like others have said lots of training and no common sense...!
  8. I wouldn't say the police don't care as i don't know what they can do when someone rings them to say they've been done over if we're looking at a busted padlock and a gap where the nicked stuff was.... However more can be done if video/pics, etc are available...
  9. Try to do some of the repairs yourself and save a heap of cash.... Mechanics is mostly spanners and not the complicated electronic stuff everyone is scared of....
  10. Will do... Was much damage done to your store?
  11. No, always tows well. Infact its best to watch the speedo as its easy to forget the trailers behind....
  12. i drive an 09 and its great... 35mpg, will do 80 or 90 steady as a rock and will tow 3t with ease.....
  13. That's a shame for the young lad.... had the balls to ask for work and then screws it up in the space of a minute.... although to be fair i've seen this with older guys who should know better....
  14. Yep. Remember when the fans would mob the track after the race.. Amazing times.. Far too sanitized these days. Too automated.. Such a shame...
  15. I agree. Trouble is its not entertaining at all.. And i'm an F1 fan...
  16. its owner beware i'm afraid. its up to each owner to protect his or her kit. we've lost loads over the years, fortunes. how ever hard you try they'll always find a way. After all its their job..! I don't know what the answer is long term. trouble is while there is a ready market i.e. Ebay and folk that are happy to buy stolen goods the problem won't go away. Its should be mandatory to list serial numbers when selling online...
  17. i can't believe this whole thread turned into a shall i jog or not thread... i think its fair to expect hard work from your employees/subs, after all you're the one paying the wages. As an extra point whenever i see our local bin collection lorry the lads on the ground are always running ahead of the lorry..
  18. is your pole pruner stihl.... if it is get the small baby saw from stihl and the bar and chain are the same.... always handy....
  19. Yes... My mistake. I knew what i meant. A 3.5t that can carry 3.5t legally would be a good seller......
  20. We've got a new one. 3.5t payload and will also pull a 3.5t legally. Gross train of 7t. Loads of power will pull a trailer up hill in top gear. Smaller than most vans and so will fit where most won't. As for getting stuck? If you take any 2 wheel drive off road you'll be asking for trouble. Really good mpg and services every 18k. I'm suprised some are saying don't buy one...? If you value your driving licence and don't want to spend on diesel then this is for you. We paid 14k for ours new 4 years ago and we're still waiting for it to go wrong.
  21. If its bearings then pull it apart, measure the bearings and source elsewhere. Stihl will be expensive. We rebuilt a strimmer head which had a collapsed bearing recently. The bearing was a £1. Or get a new head and rebuild the old one as a spare?
  22. Warners

    Need help

Small van and a single axle trailer. possibly an astra van or transit connect might suit...
  23. Ive a 2009 ranger and the only fault ever has been fuel filter related. Easy fix though...
  24. It's well known that the larger the company, especially construction, the longer they take to pay. we had a job for a very large company which involved planting/mulch/hedges, etc. After three months and chasing them i told them i'd take back my mulch and plants. Seemed to sort it as they paid in two days and i haven't worked for them since...... I agreee that there are big bucks to be made on the commercial side but you must monitor payments and don't be afraid to pull off site if payments aren't forthcoming.
