  1. We use local most of the time. We're luckier than most and have dealers nearby. To save 20, 30, 40 quid by buying online from a faceless seller is usually a very small percentage of what an item can earn. Our dealers are friendly and helpful. I'd be gutted if they disappeared.
  2. Yes. AT is for auto tilt. The whole floor lifts. To unload drive the mower back and the trailer automatically cantilevers up to around 30 degrees. Unload, release a valve at the front of the trailer and the bed returns to level.
  3. For spares we ring the factory and the parts are mailed to us. Always sent overnight. Prices are good too although trailer parts, brgs, lights are usually available locally.. Each to their own really when it comes to trailers. We have ifor, wessex and batesons and can't really fault any of them.
  4. its difficult to go against an ifor but we've an AT36 Bateson Tilt which has done 2 years with us from new, works every day loaded up to near max and is still ok.

just saw this on DAVE.. Powertool championship....3 stihl saws side by side fitted to a go kart... they came 4th.. the girl that won had a twin makita saw set up... worth a look...
  6. 2005 crewcab tipper for 200 quid. Got to be the bargain of the year..... I'd have it in a shot.
  7. I do agree.... A job is better than no job.
  8. The bbq lads picture must be a set up....! Can't beleive thats real....
  9. As an employer make sure the machine is working as it should and all safety cut outs work or are not bypassed and make sure that anyone with permission to use the machine has had official training. At least that way if the employee does something like this the company is covered since they can show due care. On another note the HSE assume that everyone is incompetent, they have to.

  11. Is it still the case that a private car can pull a trailer above its towing weight legally???
  12. We've had our little chipper out for a few days now... Today, yesterday and tuesday... Everything chipped up well. All chippings left on site for clients. Saved loads of time hand raking cuttings and saved tipping charges... Our best purchase for a while..... All good..
  13. its difficult to protect your equipment totally. we always keep an eye on our stuff on site. never leave anything unattended or out of sight. all our machines are engraved and we have lists of the serial numbers but it doen't stop things getting nicked. wouldn't like to put a money figure on the total kit pinched from tradesman each year but it must run into millions £.....
  14. Probably how not to load a little chipper...!
  15. I'd be interested to see what the dealer says. I like the 4mix engines. Seem quieter and less intense than a usual 2 stroke.
  16. Thanks Pete.... Are the blades supplied in pairs? or do you buy them as each?
  17. Natwest all the way... been with them since day one... as far as bank charges go i don't have a problem. the most expensive transaction banks charge for is handling cash... paying in and taking out. i think is somethink like 5%.
  18. How come the van had the sense to stop well away from the groundie and the cyclist didn't. Surely the cyclist thought he'd push thro down the side of the groundie when the traffic had already stopped. Like going through red lights. Jumping up on the pavement, etc.
  19. Does anyone know of a tracker that is self powered and can be fitted to a saw, etc to track it? It'd be great to be a able to track lost equipment.
  20. We've been looking for a new mower to use. We use the hayter roller 480 series, we have 7, but they are old now. Was looking at the honda roller 476 or possibly the new hayter 19". Didn't really consider anything else but will have a look round. If anyone has any suggestions.....?
  21. Might be worth checking the timing.. We had ours apart cos it broke a valve. When we stuck it back together we had the timing 1 tooth out. Ran rough. Less power.....
  22. Good advice. Ive ordered an hour meter to keep an eye on things. Trouble for me is i don't use the chipper, my lads do. So its difficult to keep check on whats being fed in although i'd hope for some common sense and good operator useage...
  23. i had it apart this time... the blades had chinks out of them... the wood had been previously cut down and had laid on ground... reckon mud, debris must have been stuck to the branches..
  24. Thanks for the reply. Had it apart this afternoon and turned the blades round. The used side looked very secondhand for only a days work. I've adjusted the anvil as close as i dare, have run it up and it works smoothly. Will try with some wood tomorrow...... I've had two lads running it.... Is there a preferred way of loading the branches? Also where is the best place to get spare blades?
  25. hi... we've started using our cs100 this week... yesterday was great.. the wood was pulled into the chute nicely... today the machine won't pull it in.... are we doing something wrong..?
