    L200 advice

Hi. Did you sort a truck. The L200 you're looking at is ok. Most people i know who drive pickups have owned at least one. I had a single cab for 5 years and it never let me down. Oil changes are every 4500 miles, fuel economy is average. You'll never get over 30mpg and if you tow it'll dip to nearer 20. Its also slow compared to equiv year navara's. That said its a great looking truck with all the toys and you won't be disapponited. Good luck.
  4. price round here is about 140 a litre... doesn't seem so long ago there was all the fuss when it went to a £1 a litre.... good old days....!!
  5. so easy to underprice. i usually find its not doing the job that stuffs the job its the work to clear the waste.....
  6. Have you not been reading the papers or watching the news recently. "just a comment" is landing people in a lot of trouble including prison. Deformation of character is serious... imagine if someone tried to rubbish your good name.. you'd be upset....!
  7. i reckon you're about right... its never a good time to reduce hours but what can you do...? i agree with regards to employees. when you mention reduced hours they've already seen it coming so its never really a shock to them.
  8. Not to sure what the fuss is about the recent hi-lux.. they have the lowest towing capacity in class at 2250kg... my crappy ranger will pull 3000 only bettered by the landrover... best to be aware of this if your towing trailers with heavy logs.... 2250kg isn't much when you consider a decent trailer will eat up 600kg of that.....
  9. I agree. Its so frustrating to see contractors working on council jobs with no PPE, signs, guys wearing trainers and probably no training either. These guys get the work because thier cheap since they don't worry about the regs. The only good thing is recently we've noticed is companies/councils want sight of insurance and training certificates which weeds out the fly by nights...!
  10. Brilliant news......! Thats great...... Is everyone watching countryfile... There is a section on rural crime...
  11. interesting comments... if you follow the argument that its not the grass cutters fault then whos is it....? the car owner? The way to look at it is imagine it was your car.. We break windows pretty much every year.. strimmer flicks a stone up, etc. we have a firm that repairs double glazed windows and another firm that repairs automotive windows. A quick call to either and its all sorted.. My best advice is that as long as the complaint is made while your chaps are still working on site then you are liable and should assume as such, (I don't know of anyone that rides around in thier car with broken windows or leaves broken windows at thier house unfixed). Use a local firm for the repair and get it dealt with straight away.. Never use Autoglass as thier are too expensive. Once its fixed than its forgotton. The worst thing is to get into a protracted argument over a period of time.. Its too much to worry about and your time is best spent getting on with earning some money....!
  12. Double cabs are great.... (i have one) but any defender is way cooler....!
  13. Right... Good news.. We've taken delivery of our cs100. Lovely and shiney. Not used it yet. 4 lads booked on a chipper course next week so we'll all be legal beagles and ready to go!
  14. You've hit the nail on the head..... Round my way everything is fair game... Tools and diesel the most.......
  15. We all use ebay, i certainly do for all sorts of things. However i won't buy used euipment anymore. A few times i've bid and won on items then got the address to collect, taken the precaution and google mapped it only to show an aerial photo of a caravan site. Its easy to nick some poor sods saws, ship them to the other end of the country and sell them.........
  16. If you were only working for the 3 days a week firm then i think they'd be right. but as you work for your self and another firm and can prove it I don't think the first firm are right. However they can choose to pay you PAYE which it sounds as if thats what they want to do.
  17. Thanks for the nod.. I've had a quick look and reckon its going to be quite a bit more money than the small Greenmech? Appreciate the CS100 has its limits but I think It'll do for us for now... We'll soon see....
  18. Thanks for the replies... In the end we've decided on a new Greenmech CS100 and trailer from George Browns. The large eco-combi would have been overkill. The main chipper jobs we do are hedges reductions. So a way to clear the long thin branches is what we are after.... We already have a couple of tipper trucks so this will help us get the rubbish off site in one go rather than multiple trips....
  19. hi..... new bloke here... looking for his first chipper and have seen this on ebay... Green Mech 150 Wood Chipper shredder 3 cyl engine, road tow, year 2000,good cond | eBay Has anyone had experience of this machine. Horticulture week - Review - Chippers and shredders | Login | Horticulture Week - gave it a great review..... but I've not used one... My experience with chippers, etc goes as far as a Timberwork 150 we've hired when needed... TBH I haven't got a pile of cash so looking for something cheap but ok... Any help please....
