1. My new little toy is proving itself. A 4x4 14 tonner. I do know what you mean about having the crane mounted at the rear though. Still, can't have it all ways.
 2. Or, spend now if you've got it, on upgrading/modernising etc. So when the situation changes for the better and work picks up, you're ahead of the game. Or skint!
 3. Haven't used it but does look very good. Never felt comfortable using wires to hold the root ball in place. Always felt counterintuitive. This system ticks all the boxes for me. (If the price is right!)
 4. Cheers Jon. I'll have to keep looking then. As 1 ton ain't good enough for what I want.
 5. Hi Ian Thanks for the tip. Clarks do have some big tongs. Can't see what they are rated at so I'll give them a buzz this week. Looking forward to the mog updates.
 6. Kill joys is not the phrase I would use for people like you.
 7. Hi Ian. In one of the pictures you have a large log grab on the hook. Could I ask where you got it? I'm currently looking for one myself. Ps what's the max reach of the crane? Thanks in advance, looks like a smashing setup. I've just acquired something similar. Let's hope they are as good as we imagine.
 8. Thanks for all the replies etc Any more suggestions? Anyone.
 9. Thanks for the reply, but I forgot to mention it is for use with wire rope. Not sure you can use these with wire rope?
 10. Evening all, I have recently acquired an 8ton hydraulic super winch and have some big hung up trees to deal with. I would like to buy a snatch block (for this and other jobs) to double the pull but I'm unsure what I need. So. 3 questions that I hope someone could help me with. 1) Do I need an 8 or 16 ton snatch block? and 2) Apart from the usual ebay etc etc, does anyone know of a UK supplier I could get one from? 3) Does anyone have one for sale? Thanks for any help guys. (Let the handbags fly by all means)
 11. No worries there boy. Through discussion we learn. Thats why I love this industry, there's always more than one way to skin a cat.
 12. But then youve got to take it somewhere and burn it. = more time.
 13. Treechopper36 Had you factored in or out a grab on your hiab? Verses a timber grab proper. There was an interesting thread on the subject a few days ago. It's a trade off between speed and strength. Cheers.
 14. That's sounds like a top setup renewable John but if you're touting yourself out to other firms then as you mentioned. A wagon can travel further afield and get their faster.
 15. Hi all. I already provide this service to local firms on a flexible basis. ie me plus truck, me plus truck and labourer, me plus chipper etc etc I've a 14 ton 4x4 lorry with hiab and 10 cube chipbox. I'm based near Andover, Hampshire. Available for hire 07737588483. (Shameless plug😃) As some of the above posts have already said, it's a useful service to offer occasionally but it's not my full time income and would probably struggle if I didn't do other things.
 16. unless they are American, European, south American, Canadian. Come to think of it, any country except Uk, Oz and NZ.
 17. Thanks. That was my initial thought too. Always nice to have a 2nd opinion.
 18. Can anyone help with this ident please? It's a fifty pence not a twenty by the way.
 19.

Hi there

just searching old threads and saw your truck.

Been thinking of heading in this direction with perhaps a chip body that can be lifted on and off. Is yours a tipper by the way?

Would you be up for a natter to pick your brains?

Cheers Richard.

 20. Out of interest, what will it be used for and why the specific lengths?
 21. Evening all. I need an extra pair of hands on the ground next Thursday the 24th. To help with a medium sized Beech removal. Very easy day feeding the chipper. 0800-1600. PM for contact details. We are near Amesbury
