  1. My Jensen blades have to be 310NM, now that is tight. I whizz down the local garage and he nips them up for me. As for a decent torque wrench that go's this high is £150 plus.

What are your thoughts on the PS 9010 compared to more main stream saws? How long ago did you buy it and what sort of money would you guess at the moment I should expect to shell out?

Hi all, I'm in the market for a new big saw, I have had a Dolmar Ps6400 for nearly 12 years now and its still a cracker but only runs a 24" bar and it struggles in some rough stuff. I've been looking at a Stihl 660 with a 30" or 36", does anyone know if there is a Dolmar of equivalent size? If there is, where would I get my hands on one, hopefully in the UK?
  7. Traffic Management. At a guess?
  8. Out with my baby tirfor on Saturday and on winching in, the handle wasn't going through its full range of movement. Still worked as expected but only half the amount of movement. Anyone know the reason and have a possible solution for me please? Thanks in advance for any replies.
  9. 1.Wash them off with wet cloth. 2.Fill them with newspaper scrunched into tight balls. 3.Rub Nikwax liquid dubbing into them (can be rubbed in even when leather is wet). 4.leave overnight away from direct source of heat. 5.Remove paper in the morning, hey presto dry waterproof boots. Or, ignore the above and have 2 pairs.

the main dealers are the same thing, not the saws. Clearly Dolmars are red and Makitas are blue.

Find any Makita main dealers, they are one and the same thing.
  12. Happy new year everyone, I recently bought a 2nd hand 2004 A530 750kg chipper. Cracking bit of kit. The top roller has a cable and spring tensioner, here is the problem. The guy I bought it from told me the cable gives up every so often and gave me a spare which he had had made up. I've been to Redwoods and they sell the replacement cable, and have told me its a design problem and to keep it greased. Fitting the new one is neither dificult nor overly expensive (if not too often!) I've thought about getting a plasma rope made up with 2 spliced eyes as a replacement for a cable. I know this would be more expensive than the cable, but in theory should be better in the long run. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Would plasma rope be any better or should I just get the Redwoods cable? Thanks in advance guys, I look forward to your comments.
  13. I do it for the money and the enjoyment, knowing I haven't got to get up on a shity day to do it makes it easier to get up and do it:001_tt2: (full time Firefighter by the way)
  14. Try reading all the way down the ad lads.
  15. Thanks very much, i'll take a look.
  16. Hi all, Does anyone know of the cheapest place to buy some jameson Pole pruners. I'm after the lot from start to finish. Bag, poles, head, etc etc
  17. Again, thanks guys. Treefrog, perhaps they just started doing them after your enquiry. No drama's. Still in 2 minds, i'll pop along and see whats what.
  18. Thanks for your help guys, Redwoods do do them (someone told me they didn't for some reason) and as they are close it'll save the courier fees One question I do have though for anyone who can help, they say its a like for like swap of blades. So I give them 2 blunt sets and they give me 2 sharp sets so I don't get mine back. This is my first Jensen chipper, is this standard practice for Jensen blade sharpening and to be welcomed or should I run a mile??
  19. No pictures at the moment sorry, i'll try and get some of my MK2 box sometime this week.
  20. Thanks Peter, that's great info. I'll knock up MK2 on that basis and go from there. Saving the pennies for one of your tipping backs.
  21. Hi guys, I've made a MK1 chip box for the back of my double cab Ford Ranger and think its a bit small. I made it out of wood as a pattern so I could adapt it easily, and I want to make it bigger! I'm fairly sure the payload is about 1ton, so was hoping some of you already have one or know of one's dimensions that would fit around 1ton into. Before anyone starts, I know every tree is different etc etc etc, i'm just after a rough estimate of dimensions. Any help would be much appreciated.
  22. Obviously I meant thanks not tanks, that would be stupid!!
