  1. Just out of curiosity Ian, what to you mean by "the insurance company went mad"?
  2. God forbid anything should happen, would the liability not lay with your chosen contractor? As the landowner you have met your obligation by checking that the contractor has all relevant insurance and certificates. 1.5k per day for them to watch others work seems quite frankly bonkers. Good luck.
  3. Hasn't passed a loler inspection since that then 😉
  4. Remind me never to work for you.
  5. That sounds like an unusual request. Why have they specified synthetic rope over steel? purely on safety grounds?
  6. I've got a hydraulic one on the front of my wagon, but find it painfully slow. Too slow to extract volume in a forestry situation. Bob, are all yours slow or do I need to tweak something somewhere?
  7. Good advice. Thank you. I'll crack on with milling it then. (Excuse the pun😃)
  8. A question for you milling fanatics. I dropped an oak in February and would like to mill it up and make a bench for the garden. Does it make a difference to cracking etc if I mill it in the next month or 2 or should I wait till another time? Thanks in advance.
  9. Biomass in the making.
  10. Great day subbing to another firm. During the weekends wind this Large Beech decided to let go of half its canopy into some dense understory. Lifting it out in sections saved some backache.
  11. Ashford 29 miles, hmmmmmm. My spidy senses are telling me different. She is a little cracker. Always got a smile on my face when behind the wheel. 😃

  13. Hydraulic pressure wins everytime over blood pressure. 😃
  14. Evening all. Thanks for the interest guys. I should have put in the post that my normal area would be around 30 miles radius from Amesbury. Sorry for not adding it originally. Regards Richard.
  15. Forgot to mention its 4x4. It's no mudplugger but is useful.
