  3. Surely you'd be better off buying a new one from honeys or fr Jones. Lowering kit takes a hammering, I wouldn't want a second hand one.

  5. If it's just a lightweight/medium weight kit you're after I'd go for a medium isc swing cheek with a tenex loopie sling, either 12 or 14mm Sirius and the Stein rc 2001. For me a bollard is worth the extra few quid over a portawrap type device and if you had to negative rig it'll be better.
  6. That was taken before I took it all apart. It was sticking a bit but I found that when I took the handle case off the bit of wire that attaches the trigger to the orange bit nearest the carb was pinging off, it didn't seem to be seated correctly.
  7. It's the bit that goes from the carb to the first orange bit in the handle that seems to be the issue
  8. Cheers for the replies. I did it before and while it was a bit of a pain it went back together ok, this time though it's playing up. Which way round does the wire bit attach to the carb? I've tried it on two different ways and neither seem to work. I'll have another bash this morning with a fresh pair of eyes.
  9. I've just spent the best part of 3 hours trying to sort my 150 out. I cranked the handle again so had to replace it. This entails taking the trigger mech and whole carb off, replacing the handle and putting it all back together again. I can't seem to get the wire that fits into the throttle of the carb to fit properly (at least I think that's the issue) and when I start the saw it runs on at half revs or so. Has anyone got any pictures of the carb etc? Could I have hooked it up wrong? Any other suggestions?
  10. I do work for a chap who regularly runs that set up, seems fine. He tows it behind his hilux and works in a very rural, very hilly area.
  11. Thanks for the reply David. I believe it's either g. Aplanatum or adspersum. No photos in afraid. The tree did not sound hollow and seemed in good health. There's not much up there to reduce. There is a larger holm oak next to it which has totally dominated it. What's your experiences with gano on holm oak?
  12. I was asked to go look at a tree in a school as the head teacher was concerned about a fungus growing at the base. It turned out to be a holm oak about 30/40 ft tall, single stem with not much of a top to it, it had what I believe to be a ganoderma bracket at the base. The tree is in a raised area with a play ground and play area underneath it. I wouldn't normally be overly concerned as I've seen loads of trees happily live with gano for years and years but it is in a high risk area. I have a level 3 qual and am more of a cutter than a consultant type so was after a bit of advice. Thanks.

  17. I've used a 520 quite a bit. Great machine. I think the lifting capability of the smaller machine is a fair bit different and from my experience I wouldn't want less for tree work.

    If you're doing the roast, I always cut up about 4 onions to rest the meat on to keep it off the roasting tin. I also put some liquid in the tray, water, wine, beer or whatever

    As I said with the stabbing and the garlic etc, sprinkle some salt and pepper on it cover in tin foil then just pop it in the oven at about 140/150 ish and forget about it for at least four hours maybe more depending on the size. I take the foil off for the last 20/30 mins and turn the heat up a bit to get the outside a bit crispy.....proper lush! Then just get your roast spuds and some greenery and your away!

    Neck fillets for tagine. Lovely and tasty, or a nice slow roasted shoulder for Sunday is a winner. Stab it all over and put slices of garlic and sprigs of rosemary in the 'wounds'. Roast it low and slow.

  23. Climber/groundy van and chipper I'm looking to fill some gaps in the diary from now until Xmas. 10 years experience with own saws, hedgecutters, climbing kit and can provide rigging kit. Different rates for climbing and grounding with set up. Based in wr11 but will travel up to an hour (rate will reflect distance). Can also supply another man if required.
