  1. Ollie Bennett?
  2. Total cost for whole build?
  3. I've tried using some green fence paint. It's quite thin stuff, will probably have to give it quite a few coats
  4. How many people have made their own ply chip box? I've knocked one up out if 3x2 and marine ply and am looking at painting it. What paint has anyone used? I want it quite durable as I don't want to have to re do it every few months. Cheers.
  5. What about timber frame and plywood?
  6. Haha. That would have been a seriously heavy night! I was back to my handsome self after a few days....I didn't lose the modelling contract....☺️
  7. I got done by a hornet about a year ago. Never had an issue with stings before but had a really bad reaction to it. Massive swelling, skin reaction and high pulse rate, full on A and E and ambulance job. Always carry an epi pen with me now. Horrible experience
  8. What are you on about? It never rains in Norway.
  9. Do you find 50 m enough? I was hoping to get 60
  10. Yeah polydyne has a really good working load. Where did you get yours? I've seen Treekit has some per metre but it's expensive.
  11. Hiya bud. Nice one, was gonna message you with same question. Who did you get your polydyne off? You reckon you'd get another wrap with 14mm?
  12. Cheers bud, will have a good read when I get chance
  13. Cheers lads. Been toying with getting some polydyne actually. Is the 2001 capable of being used while snatching some decent size lumps off it? Is the safety factor 5 or 7 on the working load limit?
  14. After some opinions please fellas. Looking at getting a lowering kit and can't decide on the rc2001 bollard or rcw3001. Have access to a Hobbs if I need it so I'm erring towards the 2001 for a nice lightweight option. Also 16 or 14mm Sirius? I'll be taking it with me while freelancing and using it in my own jobs. Any thoughts?
  15. Can't you try both places and see which one suits you better? I've worked in Norway and it's nice but eye wateringly expensive and I've worked with people who have worked in Germany and most say it's great.
  16. No that's not what I meant. At the moment as a freelance climber that's what I charge. Just me, climbing kit and saws.
  17. I charge myself out at £150 a day. Have since I started. Surely a tipper and chipper is worth at least £150 a day? The main contractor will then put whatever he or she wants on top of that. Up to them. Whether it be one of their full time groundies or another freelance groundie. They'll still make money on top of that without having the running costs of sending out a second team.
  18. Yeah subbing while trying to get my own stuff going. I'd still kind of see the "subbing" side as a business though. All those bits of kit still have to pay for their upkeep and also make money. Maybe I'm just being greedy!!!!😄
  19. Beat me to it!!!👍
  20. Bloody hell that's cheap!!! The main point for me is that all those things listed above are really only covering their costs whereas I want them to be making money to grow the business.
  21. Around the £450/500 mark here, some go higher and some go lower
  22. Must admit I thought that was low too.
  23. Charging for its use just to get to your yard? Bit misguided I reckon. I could use my wife's Peugeot to get to work if I wanted too, but I use my hilux, for a number of reasons. One is that if for whatever reason it could be useful on a job it can be used....and most guys I work for pay a bit extra for it. The tipper will be the same principle. If they want it on a job, Then I'd charge for its use, already have one job in sept where it's going out. I am just in a position where I really want to start pushing hard to get my own work and having a chipper is pretty essential to be productive. At the moment it's just trickling in with not much effort on my part if I'm honest. So with a big push I'm hoping to get the name about. There is the money there for a chipper although storing it may be an issue at the moment. I have access to a chipper for £80 a day from my old boss but as work starts to pick up for him he will more than likely be sending two teams out again so the chipper may be harder to get.
  24. Is that climbing or groundwork?
  25. Seems to be the general consensus then. Appreciate all the replies fellas. Good to get other people's thoughts, experiences and perspectives
