  1. It was lunchtime. Tell the nice folks what you were actually doing to the tree....
  2. Stop showing off!!
  3. Are you looking for any more subbies? I've been subbying since Jan this year and so far so good, I've only had two days off and that was through choice. I love the freedom it gives you and also as previously mentioned, the chance to work with different people to keep it fresh. As for pay, it all depends on distance really. I charge between £130 and £150 per day, all my own climbing kit, and 4 saws. It does amaze me though, how some people understand the need to charge £Xxx and are happy to pay it and some people cough and splutter etc.
  4. That's got bonfire written all over it!!!
  5. Pitchy? Is that another word for sappy our am I being thick?! I love my spiderjack, use it for everything with its best mate the ropeguide. I love the way it self tends when coming back in from a branch and after a bit of practice, descending is so smooth and controlled. I've only used a mates zigzag a couple of times and whilst its good I felt it didn't self tend quite as well as the sj. Although, its a lot like a hitchclimber set up so pretty easy to get the hang of straight away. I think rope choice is pretty important to both devices though...and a ropeguide/pulleysaver is pretty vital.
  6. Bang on Sherlock I thought you were a blakes hitch guy till you die!!! I was going to get an art positioner but got a bit put off with the way the clutches go on all their devices. Titanium would be good, or diamond!
  7. Alright mate. I know its not a lockjack, but my spiderjack eats clutches every 4/6 weeks. I reckon they'll be pretty much the same part. They don't tell you that on the label do they?!!
  8. Im booked up with work all next week, cheers though Paul. I have actually been to one of your contractor prep workshops in the past, I went with my old boss just in the build up to his inspection. Was informative. Something I'll look into eventually...fingers crossed.
  9. Thanks. You don't mind if I use yours aswell for a little bit do you? I want to eventually move away from freelance climbing and do more of my own stuff, but I want to do it as properly as possible and a good company image is vital I reckon....to stand out from the crowd.
  10. That's really cheap. Is their work good and do they supply it in different file formats?
  11. Does he get more business through a Facebook page rather than his old Web site? I would have thought more people google search than Facebook search. I'll check out yola thanks mate.
  12. bit harsh!! Im assuming he can add stuff to it if he wants? Everytime I think of the company name though I can't help but snigger a little bit!! Childish sense of humour.....
  13. That's pretty reasonable! What is his website address mate? Just to have a little look.
  14. yeah I expected to have to go through two different people for the two services. I have a few ideas in my head about the logo, I've just heard some not so pleasant stories about logo design etc. As for the Web design, im not after anything too flash, just something I can add to and update as and when really.
  15. Hi all. I was after some advice on where and how to get a logo designed and also any recommendations for a decent web designer (im not great with pooters im afraid). Im based in Evesham so someone fairly local would be ideal but not essential. Cheers.
  16. Another vote for tachyon. I tried velocity and didn't get on with it. Definitely agree about the friction saver too, you need one to get the best out of the sj. One thing though, get yourself some spare clutches and springs, I seem to go through them quite quickly.
  17. Hi mate. Got the link and phoned the guy, its a non starter mate. He did mention about the common although it all needs to be cut up, we ideally need a site where we can just tip of in decent size chunks.
  18. Not having much luck in shifting this timber. Does anyone know of a tip site within about an hour of sw19 for this timber?
  19. Nice one may take you up on that mate. Surprised no one wants it, if we were back home we'd have no problem shifting it. Could you send me over the details bud?
  20. Anyone Interested In Free Ash, Poplar And Sycamore In Sw19. Its All Roadside, Done Has Been Cut Up Into Moveable Pieces, Some Has And Could Be Left In Lengths. Pm Me If Interested. Cheers.
  21. Man, that looked like it took some editing!!! Cheers for posting, enjoyed it.
  22. I couldn't get velocity to self tend with the sj. I felt it was too soft and not enough rope weight to pull it through. Don't know what I was doing wrong as id read and heard good things about it. Everyone is different I guess. Well happy now I'm back with tachyon.
  23. I'm on tachyon again now after trying Samson velocity. I climb on a spiderjack and for me, tachyon is the ideal rope. Hated velocity, even though tachyon is only 11.5 that tiny bit extra in diameter made a huge difference to me. Just couldn't grip the velocity. I've tried my mates zz on my rope and it's great. Definitely recommend tachyon.
  24. James Morrison, the singer. Done a fair bit for him. Also jilly Cooper....apparently, never saw her though.
  25. Basically, the spiderjack has a wooden block that acts as a brake which makes it very easy to control the speed of descent with practice
