    Fake Owl

A local community farm use raptors, but I don't remember what type off the top of my head, they claim it works pretty well.
  2. Well done jack. Guys, I'm just in the process of applying for a Level 3, I've allready applied for Plumpton, Pershore, Merrist Wood, Newton Rigg, Capel Manor, Reese Heath and Myerscough. Are there anyt others that I have overlooked?
  3. Yup, what he said. They are still a pain in the rear though.
  4. I believe that he means "you dont get faff all for the money he paid."
  5. I agree! An apprentice isn't right for me at the moment, but when I have reached that point when I'm up and running with a reasonably full order book I'll be stable enough to offer one. There are plenty of providers, and depending on the age or background of the lad possibly extra funding for their tickets(ex forces, ex offender, under 19 etc). I see the benefit that it gives you someone that you can trust, and will be relatively loyal if they are treated well, after all you will have supported them through their training, mentored them etc, and if you ever get to the point where you are looking at running a second team/ vehicle, they will probably be the guy for the job. I was an apprentice myself, and once the owner of the firm took me under his wing I was full of enthusiasm for the firm. Unfortunately, you have to watch other staff, the managers of other sections were a right bunch of dicks so I explained the problem to the boss, and told him I couldn't work with those guys up my arse all the time. Looking back its kind of a shame that I did, but hay ho, water under the bridge now.
  6. yeah, i get that, but in the program he is states that him living on site is integral to his business, I was fairly sure that that is pretty much exactly what permitted development was for.
  7. He needed planning permission? wouldn't it come under permitted development?
  8. oh, right get ya, he was featured ON grand designs. edit- link for the program he was on. http://www.channel4.com/programmes/grand-designs/4od#2920078
  9. The one and only time I've made my mum breakfast in bed the dog tripped me up and she and my dad ended up covered in scrambled egg and red hot coffee. This time I took her to a local gastro pub for a meal.
  10. The bloke off grand designs is Kevin McCloud
  11. Good luck pal.
  12. Hey, We are all Immature, but maybe the word you wanted was "Juvenile" acording to the nature books anyway.
  13. Even if he doesn't attend the meetings, surely the news of the managements displeasure would filter back to him, and maybe something would come of it, like vols paying attention to the committees plans? Also might be worth throwing in BS 3998:2010, in passing in the next commitee meeting, it might scare him off doing any more drastic work.
  14. During a conversation at an National Trust site recently, I mentioned that I like watching the birds, and that tits were a favorite(innocently, honest guv) and was told not be be naughty, they were talking about the feathered kind. We don't get that many woodies, not sure why, Does anyone know if Blackbirds/ Magpies chase them off? I'm in the process of making some bird boxes and feeding platforms to stick in the elder from off cuts.
  15. Have you sent it in yet then, or do you still want pointers?
  16. General Builders "Grippy Gloves", normally get through half a dozen pairs a month. Hoggs boot care for my work boots Workwear, and Nikwax for my Hydrofells.
  17. The last few times I tried to order some of the £19 Dikkies "Action Trousers" and £20 Work Trousers(I think they are pretty good for general day to day wear) they were "Out Of Stock" so I assumed they were now a myth and the only Dikkies were the £60 stuff, so moved onto Tough Stuff, £30 a pair, not the cheepest, but good quality.
  18. For general workwear, Tough stuff, their general leg length is 30". Never had a problem with them, I tend to stay away from Dikkies, Snickers etc becdause they are stupidly expensive for what you get.
  19. I sent mine in to myerscough a few weeks ago and strait away got offered an interview, BUT I allready spoke to the main tutor about the course, my plans etc. And my age and that of the other students, so that may have speeded something up.
  20. We've put loads of different bird feders out recently, a few fat balls, meal worms etc scattered. They bloody loved the out of date porrige oats and cornflakes on saturday.
  21. How old is it? they have a 3 year guarantee.
  22. A volunteer did that? I would have expected better.
  23. I dont think it will, every disease or possible pandemic in the last 50 years we have beaten with modern medicine, the planet has been trying to thin our numbers for a while, but we are too clever for any of it to work. Dont get me wrong, we are due for another thin, but I cant see it affecting the population that much, at least not the population that is coursing all the problems.
  24. I'm liking the series Landy in the back of the shot.
  25. GM Crops, Pollution, De-forestation, Fracking, CO2 Emissions, Strip Mining all reminds me of a quote from "The Matrix"
