  5. as it's obviously an unusual timber i'll take it for turning and getting a sample from.
  6. osmanthus???
  7. thanks for the offer but he has those species already and they are a bit on the skinny side.
  8. it'll be an interesting experiment beau but you must remember that it will depend entirely on the species and also how humid the air is in the first place. stick a hygrometer in the area you are going to test it and check periodically what the humidity is. try this using a range of species and get an average between the lot. oak (varying common species) beech (spalted and unspalted) ash elm sycamore hornbeam birch maple hawthorn horse chestnut sweet chestnut cherry apple if you can test all these perhaps with the common softwood species as well you will get an accurate result.
  9. who said i was expensive? i can do cheap if it doesn't need to look good. what diameter is the post?
  10. how many are there? i could turn you what you need...
  11. still interested in any other unusual samples if anyone is taking anything down. 4" diameter and up are of interest. what you got????
  12. give ebay a once over, you never know what you'll find. why do you not want red deal if you are happy to have WRC or Doug Fir??? the grain patterns are fairly similar...
  13. doesn't mean it's a different species... beech can have what's called redheart which is just a coloration of the heartwood in either red or brownish hues. does it look like this? .
  14. if that's "Quercus frainetto" i'll take it. what species is the beech?
  15. those three species would be great, blackthorn is listed as a species i want but i lumped it under prunus species... either way i'd love all three, what sizes are the blackthorn and hawthorn???
  16. what would you want for say a foot of it?
  17. kriscarp0 | eBay

  19. what is that??? can i see some pictures? deffo interested mate, what sort of size is it?
  20. i was the same, it had nothing to do with any sum of money no matter how much anyone claimed we would be better or worse off, i voted out because i wanted the sovereignty of our great country back. we should not have a load of brussels rules to follow as well as our own.
  21. well said sir...
