  1. i've one that i'm happy to let go if you like. i need to clear out as we are moving house so like the fact that it would be going to a good home and will be used. i'll see if i can get a pic of it tomorrow.
  2. shawshank redemption green mile chaplin anna and the king bill and ted 1&2 28 days later dirty dozen crocodile dundee 1&2 flight of the navigator sword in the stone
  3. i was in the right genus at least...
  4. looks a bit like a blackthorn.
  5. koelreuteria?
  6. i've found a nice bit of laburnum or holm oak if you like.
  7. it's a surprisingly short list.
  8. do you want it left bare or will a coat of danish oil be ok? i charge £25 per hour and that is also a minimum charge (i don't think it will take an hour) so in theory £25+postage.
  9. i have found a cracking bit of oak i could use or i have beech or possibly some nice sycamore but i need to cut it up first. annoyingly most of what i have is either just too short or not quite 3"... sods law.
  10. to right i will. i need to see what the guy who's shop i'll be renting a part of wants to do first. i'm loathed to get rid of it as it's so useful when the occasion calls for it.
  11. sorry mick, didn't see this till now. there are still plenty of nests here and you will get some bargains too. we don't have a date yet but the quicker i can get shot of this stuff the better.
  12. have you decided on a timber yet mate?
  13. i did wonder as to why i wasn't able to access the site for the last couple of nights. speed seems good here.
  14. i may be able to help... turning it as one lump would be difficult as most lathes only go up to 20" between centers but the method of slicing it into discs means i can do that off the end of the lathe no problem.
  15. thanks for the other replys fellas but i should warn you that once anyone starts talking about the tech side of things my brain goes AAAARRRRGGGGGGHHHHH. then it shuts down. i just need to know if it's doable or if it's not worth it.
  16. i might just do that. where are you?
  17. hi guys, i need a bit of advice from the knowledgable in the field of leccy... my wilson ripsaw runs on single phase and i want to take it to a workshop where they only have three phase. is it relatively easy or cheap to change the motor over or is it more complicated than that??? my saw is identical to this. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Wilson-450mm-Rip-Saw-DC-Brake-5-5kw-1500-VAT-/332373202131 any help is welcomed and if anyone can point out some people who can do this in the slough/windsor area then i'd appreciate it.
  18. i'll have a butchers at my stock tomorrow and see what i have to make it from. i should have beech and sycamore but i'll check for anything else.
  19. well usually woods for kitchen use are not that colourful but let me see what i have kicking around and i'll get back to you. any particular style needed? option one... option two... option three...
  20. i'm getting another miller in mate. do you think that there is any rot at the top???
  21. not yet. to be honest mick it would be easier to just pop over. as a guide a £20 note will get you a 14" nest of 4 in spalted beech. there are too many to price individually plus i don't really have the time. i'd probably do a boot full for £75 and there would be 40-50 bowls there.
  22. here i am... do you have any colours in mind? is it functional or decorative?
  23. i know but i've got no choice. i am keeping some of the rarer stuff like pagoda tree and honey locust and i've already filled a container with my blanks, boards and other exotics but the local stuff regardless of how nice it is has got to go.
  24. no mate, moving house. everything to do with the skittles or persian meels is going to the new workshop which i'm renting for 100 quid a week but everything else (which is a hell of alot) needs to go either in a container or needs to be sold. well the container has been filled already and i still need to get rid of some logs that i'd love to keep but just can't afford to.
