  1. That's what I was getting at when I mentioned PV. Seems a good way to improve circulation when it's probably most needed.
  2. Seems an odd combination to me. When it's windy it's rarely very sunny so forcing what little warm air is in polytunnel out would seem counterproductive. Some PV, on the other hand, might work better. There used to be a chap on here that recommended setting your polytunnel up on a slope. He had both ends open and the idea is that as the air warms it rises to develop a throughput of air in the tunnel.
  3. That's way outside of spec. We had this some years ago and complained. Western Power put some voltage recording device on the line and when it showed we were getting low voltage they upgraded the line to the closest transformer. Problem solved.
  4. Contact Nick Champion near Launceston https://www.facebook.com/ChampionTreeServices/ He has a tracked Timberwolf that he hires out
  5. Not suggesting bearers are not a good thing just dry ground beneath helps a lot as well.
  6. I don't mean just the bearers but the ground below. I process for two places on mine waste in the Tamar valley. The ground is very free draining gravel and the wood drys out well on both sites but better on the one that gets covered. Ours sadly sit on bearers on a muddy field
  7. Same old same old really. Massive project ludicrously over budget as per usual. Living down in the SW it makes diddly squat difference to us other than the taxes to fund it. Meanwhile, our only train line is often out of action at Dawlish but there is never any money to sort this problem once and for all. Speaking to a fairly high powered business chap recently who thought the money would have been far better spent on high-speed internet for every home and business in the country bringing all of us closer together. Not sure I agree but it was an interesting take on it.
  8. As you know I do contract processing and get to see others storage. The dryest roundwood I have processed was covered on the top and was sat upon very free draining ground. I am sure the later was very advantageous and I am seeing with our crate storage how the dryness of the base makes a difference to drying times.
  9. Very sad to hear of the death of Kieth Flint this morning.
  10. How exposed a site are you on? Might give some a go but don't want it shredded on its first outing
  11. Yes, I should have mentioned that. Must admit to trying to avoid getting any oak or chestnut these days as they are both so slow drying. Generally found softwoods far better for drying in the round and not prone to rotting quickly. That's douglas and larch.
  12. Wet and windy but nothing out of the ordinary. The media make such a fuss about almost any weather these days it's a joke. I bit of winds is a named storm A cold high is now a "beast from the east" Over 20C and we are "swealtering in Mediterranean conditions" One day we will get some proper bad weather and they won't have any hyperbole left to use.
  13. After 2 years some of our hardwoods would be rotting. Sycamore and birch need cutting pronto IMO. Beech discolors quickly but is still sound after a year. I see the chap down near Denham bridge uses covers but it's a very protected site. If we had covers on today they would have to be heavy duty and very well tied down or they would end up in Somerset! We are very wet up here but on the upside, very windy as well so drying once split and covered is quite quick. I haven't measured the moisture content of the roundwood as there is not much I can do about it anyway
  14. Scott and Sargent are more aligned to industrial kit but not sure if they do refurb work. These guys might also be worth contacting https://www.twswood.co.uk/
  15. I shouldn't be so quick to take the pee. Drove past a golf course the other day and remarked to Liz that I would quite like some lessons ?. The moment past but even so.........
  16. I found these to go with your pipe
  17. Approaching 50 but no way ready for Radio 2 or the Archers. 6 Music for me. Too much time in the cab for you Big J leading to premature aging ?
  18. There are few options covered here. I just wondered if you could get one of those tow bars that are curved and extend out and up. If the doors are fowling the hitch so the further back the hitch is the more chance the arc of the door will help it clear. https://www.towbarexpress.co.uk/guide/towball-heights/
  19. I am confused. What van can tow a 3.5-tonne trailer but has doors so low you can't open them when the hitch height is right?
  20. I have one and it's perfectly good. Only use one for cleaning off the processor and it's survived a couple of years use and bashing around in the back of the truck. Seems a bit thirsty but can't compare it to other brands as it's my first one.
  21. Heard this on 6 music today. Got the toes a tapping
  22. Bloody ridiculous realy. We are in the depths of what should be winter and I have been working outside in a T-shirt dripping sweat! Hit 15C hear today and wall to wall sunshine. I know we get some variability in weather in the UK but seems climate change is running at full steam ahead.
  23. Cool and sunny so perfect in my book.
  24. Straight 6" ss flue hear and I just use glass fiber drain rods with a very stiff bristled brush made for 6" pipe. I do next doors who have flexible ss flue with the same setup but that flue has a few twists and turns. Must be 15 years old and it had an inspection last year and was given the all clear so the rods have not damaged it where they hit it.
  25. We are at £115 for 1 cube delivered and £210 for 2
