  1. Ever hopeful after today of getting banned but not holding my breath.
  2. Getting wetter by the second as it's parked in a bucket of water.
  3. First 5 mins was fine. Then foolishly put it on for another 5 min.
  4. Microwaving a wood sample to see how wet it was but left it in for too long. Clouds of smoke billowing out of the microwave and house now full of smoke. Still smoking having removed it and chucked it outside
  5. Yes as I say it was a surprise. Only tested one piece so presume the rest was lighter. But as I said earlier it was orrible wood and splintered badly so yes a fair bit of air space. I do always break our logs down more than a lot you see. I saw one of the standard (maybe heatas) that recommend no split size was more than 6" and I work to that so if a log is over 6" even at one end it gets split again.
  6. Forgot to check today will try to remember tomorrow
  7. The beech came in at 476kg. Well done neiln Must admit I thought it would be more than that.
  8. Yep and I think you need to. My number is ............... ha ha
  9. Yep it's certainly dense. I tested a piece and it sank in water
  10. OK I have done a cube of beech but it was awkward twisted hedgerow trees so not neat logs like the ash (unlike the few nice ones on the top). probably 1/4 un split branch material and the rings were a pain and made a fair bit of kindling. Suspect these things will make it lighter than if I had perfect wood like the ash was. So lets play again
  11. http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/firewood-forum/64099-stacked-v-loose-logs-conversion-rate.html
  12. Yep going to be up around that I would have thought. Going for 495kg myself. Promise not to cheat
  13. Not everyone is as feisty as some members on here. I know I would't make a fuss over £20-£30 quid. It's not as though he didn't get any logs just not as much as expected or wetter than hoped so not down a fortune.
  14. If you have a reasonably solid yard would look at 2wd tractor. Got a 4wd compact but poor turning circle and 4wd can cut up the hardcore.
  15. Yes wouldn't want to look like a farmer or Mr K Johnson would be after me
  16. Yes the my canopy they made for the Dmax was pretty good and solid.
  17. Got some very fresh beech tomorrow. What do you recon
  18. Loath to say it but think Roger Young do them
  19. We have a couple of close guesses But White noise takes it. 405 kg
  20. No one very close yet
  21. Only correct answer so far I should have said the logs are freshly split not freshly cut. Roundwood has been in the field a few weeks and don't know how long since it was cut down but clearly no earlier than this winter looking at it.
  22. 1m3 of freshly cut ash logs. Carefully measured out into an IBC with the tank being cut down to exactly the 1000 litre mark, so a perfect cube of logs. No prizes I am afraid
  23. Loads of places to offload chip around here Mick so a few trips with a small chip box is no problem. Plus our rural lanes can be very narrow making a small truck a boon. Just gone from a Dmax to an old Hilux which is a few inches narrower. Makes life one hell of lot easier.
  24. Back on volumes. Do you think many customers want to know the stacked volume? We have if it on our website but not prominently. Started off selling by stacked volume and after being lambasted on here switched to lose volume as that seemed to be the industry norm.
