  1. This Wish I hadn't bothered with Vat registration We get back around what we pay but have the hassle and the extra accountancy costs.
  2. Another great job. Hope you have left gaps around the reveal as there is potential for a fair bit of expansion and shrinkage with the grain in that orientation.
  3. Be mighty disappointed if doesn't
  4. Will do Might be a bit cagey about what I think is it's USP until I have it sorted though.
  5. Not used a sappie but do use a log pick and tongs. Both handy tools but the tongs get the most use. Snag I have with the pick is when dragging large lumps around the pick can disengage sending you flying. The tongs just keep on gripping
  6. It's been pretty wet at times here neiln. The early winter this year was relatively dry. Had more rain in the last week than all of January I think. Don't think it would have made much difference to be honest. I am sure it will go up a bit more and I will leave it for later measuring.
  7. Well said Shane
  8. Well done. Always good to be ahead of the curve. Busy trying to fill our sheds but the bu@@ers keep buying it
  9. Are you not better off using pellets and selling the logs? I know financially we would be off running our GSHP and selling all the logs but cant resist a live flame.
  10. OK think I get that, thanks First and most expensive single component turned up today. Couldn't find a cheap suitable option and least should see out several retorts
  11. Planing a few long haul flights but like the idea of carbon offsetting but unsure as to wether they are scams of genuine. Things like this Carbon Footprint Reduction Scheme For CO2 Emissions | Woodand Trust Shop Anyone have first hand experience?
  12. X27 here as well. Mate has the Gransfors and it is a work of art but he tried my Fiskars and recon'd it was the better tool just not as nice to look at.
  13. Is it a demolition program?
  14. No it's crap!
  15. Tars would be burnt off in my retort. Can any retort preserve tars? would have thought they all run too hot
  16. Not looked at the telly today so googling is the only way I am going to find it.
  17. Just get a dehumidifier. It warms, it dries and you can poor the water down the drain instead of just releasing into the house were it will raise the risk of mould and condensation
  18. Yes. How else would I find it
  19. London attack: Sadiq Khan praises emergency services as PM set to hold Cobra meeting | London Evening Standard
  20. Cleared out some brown ends
  21. Forgot about this but just met the log in the shed. Now 625g Drying has slowed dramatically so does look as if though well kiln dried logs might be dryer when the customer gets to burn them than air dried presuming the supply chain is not too slow. Not sure how much advantage you get from 15% to 20% logs though
  22. Cant help on the softwoods but if we start from the bottom right (the dark softwood) the 4th up looks like beech and the 9th up looks like maple. If pushed on the softwoods would say 2 and 6 are larch but would not bet any money on it.
  23. Thanks Alec Materials are now being ordered so something is going to get made
  24. Wow that is smart. Not normally a fan of pallet furniture but that is not your average pallet work
  25. Very welcome Ernie I think the prototype is just going to be mild steel with steel liner that will be sacrificial. If all works as hoped will look closer at stainless prices. Quote for 304 quadrupled the price for the parts I am getting quotes on
