  9. John Phillips of Balkeerie killed by falling tree near Kirriemuir | Dundee & Tayside | News | STV A woodcutter who was crushed to death by a falling tree has been named. John Phillips was killed in the incident on woodland near to Kirriemuir in Angus. The 29-year-old was carrying out tree felling work when he was killed at around 1.45pm on Thursday. Tayside Police and the Scottish Ambulance Service attended the incident near to Auchindorie Farm in Westmuir. Mr Phillips, of Balkeerie, near Forfar, was found trapped underneath the fallen tree. Efforts were made to free him using equipment but he was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident. A force spokesman said: "Police and ambulance staff attended after the alarm was raised by a fellow worker but, tragically, Mr Phillips was pronounced dead at the scene. "Joint enquiries between Tayside Police and the Health and Safety Executive are ongoing and, as with all sudden deaths, a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal." So sad

  20. feed mine all year round to even have names for some, the hawks like sitting atop the 80 ft poplar, its all quiet when they are about. thrushes blackbirds and pheasants peck at the kitchen door if the foods not out for them
