  5. wound paints have been proven to do no good - however if youblow torch the wound this will kill any bacteria and tree slugs, which are the main causes of decay in trees.

  9. if your sure its starting to lean then its dangerous - no doubt - when it falls is a lottery but the danger signs are there - Get an arborist in to confirm this with a report then contact the tree officer.
  10. honey fungus can kill these trees - unusual for such a big tree I know but true - better have a look round the roots - the old tree officer needs to retire. get an arborist to do so

    I thought I had a thrust baring was going on my Mitzy L200 (noisy until deploy clutch) but it turned out to be the gear box - bitch

  16. Rupes got a good sensible approach - I would add - get a back log of private jobs lined up- advertise in advance as a business would do - get a feel for the market in your area - then if it looks good - go for it
  17. has any organisation ever done a summer branch drop information gathering project? - if not I think it would be a great idea - with all the information we would probably have a better understanding
  18. ive seen a white pop develop a substantial crack during some very high temperatures a few years ago - i think moisture is a key factor
  19. I remember back in 1991 we had record temperatures - the only time ive ever had water roped up to me - at 49 yrs old im a northern poofter now and im not doing any big reductions this weather:001_tt2:
  20. hot today - small job only thankfully - Ive got a big reduction in a couple of weeks - if its this hot not doing it
