  3. Hi Russell - what type of soil is the oak on - is there any history of previous branch failure from this Oak or other Oaks in that area

  5. bacterial wetwood is often associated with cracks - looks like a combo of some wind and a crack have resulted in the limb failure

  15. sounds like a fell and winch them out job - manageable size for a digger sounds a little ambiguous - specify max lengths and weight you will leave the timber in your quote also go back and have another good look before you submit a price.

  19. I think im confusing things - a mulch at the right amount is good-it will have the right amount of nutrients in it -

  21. no Mark nitrogen is not good for this tree
  22. my guess would be - tree under stress needs to preserve energy reserves - nitrogen makes the tree put on extra growth and that depletes the energy reserves
  23. is that gnomonia platani - if so - no problem
  24. the only two things I can think of is 1. decay 2. wind dynamics have changed - eg has there been any tree losses close by?
