  1. Might be difficult at the moment, but if/when all this nonsense blows through - and it will - see if you can arrange a factory visit to GreenMech. A gang of us did one a while back and it was EXCEPTIONAL! A company that welcomes you into the very heart of their manufacturing process is a company that is rightly proud of its product. I think there might be a “Greenmech factory visit” thread from a while back. Worth a look! Theres also a thread named something like “United colours of Greenmech” also well worth a read. ( @PeteB - might look in on the thread?)
  2. The difference between opinions seems to be - if you are PAYE (or perhaps site subby) there’s an expectation of an uplift and I guess that’s a fair one if you’ve done a Mon-Fri, there ‘should’ be some incentive for giving up your weekend. If you’re SE or the company owner, it comes with the JD (but so does having a cheeky day off when you want one.) Last time I did a contract which stipulated weekend work I whacked the price right up and passed it on to all of us that were on task. Client was SW Highways and they’d left it too late to argue. (It’s no wonder tax is so high with inefficiency like that...)
  3. If anyone thinks there isn’t a massive alcohol abuse problem in many of the Nordic countries they simply don’t know their social history....
  4. Your cover is well and truly blown J! Youre like a stick of Blackpool rock, it might be yellow on the outside but it’s true blue Tory through the middle ?
  5. Apparently, you just ignore it all if you’re an MP, family of an MP, advisor to an MP. Bars open in Westminster after 22:00, international travel with a positive test result for example. Absolute tosh!
  6. ???? for special occasions only!
  7. And that’s the problem with making up seemingly illogical, irrelevant and unenforceable’regulations’ on the hoof. The general public (those with an ounce of CDF) just scoff at them and self righteous politicians seek to publicly score points off each other whilst hoping their own self entitled rule breaking remains under radar. Like that horrible Cnut Abbot pissing up on the train - happy to pass rules for the minions - not so happy to abide by them....
  8. That's real nice! Lovely piece of granite!
  9. Nice job that! I've got to do similar in the temporary office except the other way around - if you know what I mean... The original slate is recessed back from what appears to be several generous lashings of plaster and artex over the years! It'll be a bigger ball ache hacking it off than it would be dot and dabbing some new boards over the top. This fireplace, like all the others bar 1, was blocked up and covered with a storage heater. Bloody criminal what they did in the 70's! Need to get on with it really. Like what you've done there, that's pretty much what I had in mind.
  10. Union Boss a team player? What like Bob Crow? Six figure salary and a council house? You're master of the oxymoron Egger I'll give you that....
  11. Could you tell us how many council houses were built under Blair / Brown regime? Can you tell us which party raised minimum wage and lowered the personal tax threshold? Of course things ‘could’ be better..... but nobody believed it WOULD be at the previous election.
  12. There are those that ‘believe’ what theym being told Egger..... ?
  13. Apparently, this nonsense only applies to the plebs: Bars in Parliament do not have to follow the 10pm curfew - Wales Online WWW.WALESONLINE.CO.UK They are instead counted as a "workplace canteen" Any MP, of any flavour, that is chugging tax payer subsidised bevvy after 22:00 is laughing in our faces!
  14. That’s an (unusually) odd response Mark. I mean, even more odd than usual....? Take the ‘subject matter’ out of the 2 example protests and look again: Similarities - some attempts at social distancing and compliance with current guidelines, both examples ‘authorised’ public protests, both examples could be perceived as ill advised large public gatherings under the circumstances. Glaringly obvious dissimilarities - 1 example raised outrage (from certain 1/4s) if police DIDN’T kneel in deference, the other example resulted in a baton charge. 1 example received boggling levels of media coverage, the other not so much. Is the chasm between the 2 roughly similar sets of circumstances not blindingly obvious? What is also noteworthy, is that both examples of protest groups appeared to have a reasonably broad demographic of attendees - so far as I could see. The anti lockdown faction is most likely to be ‘working’ types that have so much to lose from these apparently illogical restrictions. I’m a bit surprised (not really) that there isn’t a Labour voice in there. Maybe it’s just the usual Marxist factions that are omni-present at such events? If only there was an effective opposition able to offer checks and balances to Tory cabinet rule....
  15. Sounds like St Budeaux (in Plymuff.) The Janners don’t like an early start though - the Subaru Spar shop super strength lager run starts right after the Jeremy Kyle show. Invariably followed Shortly thereafter by the sirens.....
  16. I rarely disagree wi him - except on Brexit of course ?
  17. Did you catch Maj egger??
  18. Sounds genuinely hellish.
  19. That’s another little chip gone from the bastion of straight talkers..... The legendary Mountain Man using the term ‘whataboutery’ rather than embracing the dynamic cut & thrust of argument, counter argument. It’s a dark day for AT. I’m going to push my red wine consumption into overdrive so as to cast a veil over the realisation that the world is changing in ways I’m increasingly uncomfortable with on an, apparently, daily basis. ?
  20. Can Covid be fart transmitted?
  21. Listening to Majeed on LBC earlier. He’s had the measure of this situation from the get-go. He’s a good boy - been broadcasting to the masses ‘on message’ since I spoke to him back in March. We’re on track for North of 7% unemployment on current measure for the sake of (I think he said) 1000 Covid hospital cases as of today. UK population 68ish mil?? Do the math - 1000 as a percentage of 68 mil. 7% unemployment is a shit sandwich that all 68 mil will have to take a bite of.
  22. That’s easily answered.... Because their bosses and their political masters are shite scared of opening Pandora’s box.
  23. Agreed (apart from the tax thing)
