  1. And to keep the current theme:
  2. It’s Sunday mate, you can’t be held accountable for stuff said on a Sunday ?
  3. Awwww, come on Mark, what were you gonna say....?
  4. There is also the potential for a 'name & shame' approach. The council, especially as a government / statutory body, ought to strive towards the gold standard in the duty to be a good neighbour. It certainly looks like, either through omission, ignorance or neglect, that the council tree has the potential to be adversely impacting the neighbour. First job - tell them! Rather than offering (and then standing under the council's direction) to remedy the perceived imposition and incurring the financial penalty, first action could be to explain what the imposition is and suggest that the council might wish to address it. If they were to decline, there is the parish & district councillor route + the local MP who could be brought to bear - they work for us after all. Then there is social media and local media. Create a shit-storm if necessary - it can have surprising effect. Best case scenario - problem resolved, no personal cost. Winner, winner Waitrose organic chicken and pan roasted pine nut dinner. Worst case scenario - TPO. Somewhere in the middle - council claim to be skint and won't do it, neighbour has to do it. Personally, I'd still do the caravan and campfire approach....
  5. I aim to bring a workable alternative to conventional wisdom..... ?
  6. Yes, I know.... I was being obscure... If there is no such thing as 'public money' there can be no such thing as 'publicly owned property' - well, obviously, technically, there can be. But only for as long as 'we - the masses' remain compliant with the 'rules' that suppress us. Suppress / protect is open to personal interpretation obviously... For as long as people seek permission / consent there will always be those that (sometimes inappropriately or excessively) attempt to exert their dominant influence. The solution here is to use the selective liberal permissiveness that pervades most public sector organisations to one's advantage. Park a caravan in the RPA, tether a pony to the tree, harvest the overhanging branches for the provision of basic human rights such as cooking and hot water. Result - immediate grant of 14 days 'camping rights', a camp fire and jolly with the boys drinking beer and toasting muffins, tree problem resolved, leave a load of shite for LA to clean up and finally, the cherry on top, the LA gets a good PR story to boost their diversity and inclusivity stats... Everyone's a winner! PS you might be better off following Jules' advice above (correction - it's NOT 'advice' it is the casual contribution to a hypothetical scenario being discussed informally and without liability), but, if, entirely at your own discretion, you follow my suggestion.... Make sure the camp fire is adjacent / at the base of the tree. Then phone LA and tell them THEIR tree is unsafe. Slam dunk in ya face LA!
  7. Come on you idle slackers! Where’s your sense of adventure, your indomitable spirit, your rebellious indignation? The ‘scenario’ - keep the tree v prune the tree v fell the tree - you’re getting bogged down in supplementary questions and ignoring the glaringly obvious..... There is NO SUCH THING AS COUNCIL OWNED LAND! (yes I am looking at you K ???)
  8. I want to see YOUR version of carefully selected 20 questions ?
  9. 2 1 actually - forgot the broken little toe I got from kicking a 16yo girl! In my defence, it was consensual and she was a black belt ? No tattoos on this perfect skin ?
  10. Who needs reminding of that?
  11. Labour suspends Jeremy Corbyn over reaction to anti-Semitism report Labour suspends Jeremy Corbyn over reaction to anti-Semitism report WWW.BBC.CO.UK Sir Keir Starmer acts after his predecessor says the scale of the problem in Labour is "overstated". ??
  12. Where do you find 'em.... (well, BBC online obv's but you know what I mean...) Not sure if it'd have been worse for Lt Femoral or Lt Bolok....?
  13. ? There is a limit to my personal reflection...
  14. Good on ya! We should occasionally stop and take a look at what and why we do things the way we do. I can say, directly as a result of your post, I’ve re-thought the proposals for a Beech dismantle I went to look at on Saturday. In this case it is edge of woodland, plenty of space and an environmentally ‘aware’ landowner. If it was a garden, fair play, it’s go through the chipper and away (and that was the auto-setting for this one) track the chipper in, bosch it all through and leave a chip pile - but why bother if there’s no need?
  15. Up until the point when they put a greenhouse/ conservatory/ fence /shed/ car/ house where there wasn’t previously one!
  16. All I could think whilst watching that was - imagine being naked in a large vat of lime jelly with those 3.... ??
  17. First rule of GreenMech club.... Gotcha! ?
  18. I don’t want you consuming sub optimal product though Egger! See, beneath this rugged exterior there is a soft, caring, compassionate soul.... ?
  19. There’s a GreenMech owners FB page? How did I not know this ? Membership pending! @wicklamulla did YOU know Ken??
  20. Man-kini & flip-flps - living like a Viking!
  21. The ‘downside’ to PPE is that it emboldens the incompetent and affords protection to the careless thus prolonging their presence in the workplace / world. What is truly staggering is where blind adherence to‘procedure’ and ‘PPE’ actually make things MORE difficult and potentially dangerous than assessing them OUT of the equation.
  22. That would be a technical and culinary error Egger. One shouldn’t ‘prick’ ones sausages during cooking since it allows heat, moisture, fat to escape from within the self contained cooking environment. The sausage casing is intended to remain intact so as to create an even cook of the product as one might expect in a mini-casserole type scenario. Retention of steam is essential to the cooking process as retention of fat is to flavour. This is only really essential when using ‘quality’ sausages. Bargain basement sawdust and ground sphincter variants, meh, don’t make much difference what you do with dem.
  23. Worth considering: Invest (at least) as much in yourself (training & build experience) as you do your equipment. PPE may lessen the adverse effect of an accident but confidence, care, strength, focus and knowledge is the best combination to avoid one.
