  1. cheers for all the support guys, forensics have a print and a footprint from elsewhere in the street so we'll see what happens, and if your approached by a guy in a pub drop us a line...
  2. Last night my idiot workmate left an FS400 an MS240 and a complete stihl combi system in the back of his landrover and lo and behold it's been broken into and nicked if anyone in the norwich area gets offered them of sees them can you give us a bell 07788 425907 or 07768232669
  3. Just wondering if anyone has dropped a 550 or 560 in the drink yet as my saws go for a swim at least once a year and i'm in the market for a new one, i know a 346 will dry out but i like shiney things...
  4. I'm a reedcutter i've got a BCS and a Grillo GF 4 they get used about 8 hours a day every day for 6 months On reed day to day i've been using the grillo for 5 years now and it wins every time less vibration less bits drop off but it doesn't have as much grunt only a 9hp engine i have the 13 hp kohler engined BCS it'll go thru nearly anything but the steering brakes stick on if you don't use it regularly and i does vibrate like hell oh the grillo is about 2k cheaper too
  5. mate of mine got one about 6 months ago he's only been using it a weekends but its not had any probs think he's been thru 2 chains on it so far so it's had a fair old hack, seems better bet than a 261
  6. would you like the list of issues i've had with my 261? or should i leave it at that i'm getting a husky for my next saw....
  7. was one on ebay yesterday nearly bought it but then would need a new tractor... Tractor winch, Forestry winch, Timber winch, PTO winch | eBay it's the 4210 but for the end of the week....
  8. just had the same problem altho a bit worse it wound up needing a new crankshaft and a new bearing along with other things all done on warrenty so go take it to the dealer is my reccomendation it'll be free:thumbup:
  9. mine is being done under warranty even though i think it's nearly 5 months out of the end of the warranty i was told that they are sorting them whatever whenever if they are bad and mine was bad
  10. just tried direct line....refused me:thumbdown: not too impressed just been quoted £850 by someone else hey ho
  11. Cheers for the help think i'll have a tinker if all else fails i'll bung it in a box and send it to spud i guess
  12. i've got an ms 200 it's a saw i love to bits for killing little trees but over the years i've abused it quite a lot it's had a new pot and piston, oil pump (bio oil and peat combo) and now needs a new carb should i just give up and get a new saw or persevere with this one just wanted a bit of advice
  13. if its the same as on a FS 400 fairly easy i think it was 2 hoses and the pump just clips in and out, took me half hour tops think most of that was swearing at the pipe going from the carb....
  14. i'll be honest you've lost me there, i'm guessing you mean can i leave more of the tree's up which sadly i don't think i can i should be on site later on in the week on another job and i'll take some photos
  15. Heaps of rain at the mo' at last but as for foliage i'm thinking not a shread will be left i'm guessing the cuts will be over 6" in diameter on some of them more like a foot it'll be brutal
  16. talking pollards i've just bee asked to pollard a dyke edge of willows my initial feeling was to say wait till october to do the work am i right i don't really want the work to go to someone else but don't wanna hurt the willows feelings....for once
  17. Lots of phone calls to heaps of landowners asking if they had any work got a few nibbles from that, then got lucky with some work and underbid hugely for it did it with a smile on my face and have now got my rates sorted...well kinda
  18. Beccles is a bit far really but i may get back to you if i have no luck nearer
  19. Well tunneled under it anyway, basicly the barn i use to store my gear in looks likely to be condemned, does anyone know of a friendly farmer near to norwich and the broads who'd mind a few odd and sods in a barn (ok so at least 5 x 10 metres, and whats the going rate for storage these days as my last place was super cheap
  20. and if using bio oil get behind the exhaust and clean out your fins every 6months or so i cooked my ms 200 last year and the boss cooked his 260 this year an expensive thing to learn, so unless you have to use bio oil use synthetic chain oil
  21. i had a play with a horn beam at mum and dad's in october and it's also just started pissing sap everywhere it looks healthy enough otherwise tho'
  22. It's all i ever do, i work out on the norfolk broads for the RSPB and the like have just in the last week burned about 5 acres of reedbed no-one seemed to mind gave the fire bridge a call to let them know so they don't rush over it's all good but we are a bit behind the times over here
  23. i'd love an iron horse but can't afford the 9k price tag thought this may be a cheap option
  24. been using FS400's for years but went to finland and used a husky 345 (i think) with a thumb control on the throttle was great no cramp in my arm from squeezing the throttle all day
  25. cheers for that guys, i'll mull it over and go get me a new toy...
