  3. I tend to keep mine going non-stop through winter. I riddle the ashes now and again when it starts filling up and the empty the basket. I have a multi burning stove so not sure if that makes any difference. I only ever burn wood on the stove.

  9. What is your thoughts on the Husky 545 chainsaw. I want to use it for cutting smallish trees into rings etc for my own use(ie not selling the wood). I want a saw with a bit of poke on a 15" bar. I spoke to a rep at the show yesterday and he thought that the 545 would be ideal. I have always used Sthil but feel like a change. Am I doing right?

  12. Wait until you are almost 70, then you will really see how things have changed
  13. I cut enough to keep me and my two Sons houses going. It is suprising how much we used last year. I cut it up with a chain saw and last year split it with an axe. This year I have bought a petrol logsplitter and that has made things easier. I am almost 70 so need to find ways of making the work easier but love doing it.
  14. I grow loads of veg, just like the fresh taste cant beat it
  15. I have grown some hornbeam, sweet chestnut and walnuts from seeds this year. I collected the seeds last year and put them in soil. I propose to plant them this in my small woodland this year if all goes well. I live very near to Ashridge but had not thought of collecting beech seeds. This will be the first year I have tried this so any help on the best time to plant etc. would be very helpful.

  18. The ash tree is on the Hets bucks boarder
  19. The ash tree is weeping a brown black liquid from about a metre from the ground. The leaves etc. look healthy. there are other ash trees close by which all look healthy.
  20. Hi Paul, I have added some photos of the ash tree and its location is on the Bucks Herts boarder.
