  1. Nope, just too old to be waving big saws about. It’s much easier earning a living looking at trees than actually working on them
  2. But once you’ve felled the tree, you can’t fell it again.
  3. It’s been a few years since I looked.
  4. I think the last time I looked they were around 15K+
  5. They’re part of the family Eggs, the feeling of loss never really goes away (but you know that) im sorry mate.
  6. Thats me out of the running then...
  7. But it's 'ported', what's wrong with having a spare.
  8. You and me both...
  9. Tough on the family? Isn't punishment for crime supposed to be tough? Otherwise it isn't a punishment. Isn't that most days?
  10. Heard you the first time
  11. Where's the decompression button? Feeling my age as I can remember when they were the go to saw for ringing up - when you could get the buggers to start without twanging your fingers.
  12. Because, I presume statistically, many young black men carry knives or other weapons? No-one, one would hope, wants to stereotype people by their colour, sex or age but if a percentage of the population typically do something, what do you do? If you ride fast bikes in areas or roads where there is a high incidence of speeding motorcycles, is it unreasonable to get more police interest and checks than the old dodderer in his metro? Personally, I don't think so and never felt that I had cause for complaint for being frequently stopped.
  13. But they still require a dealer hand-over!
  14. Was the 1500 destructions based on Cavat values? If it was, how can the fines be excessive?
  15. I can't see where it is in the public interest for the LA to prosecute that!
  16. Other reports said that passengers pulled the emergency cord to open the doors, which then caused the attackers to flee. Two have now been charged (15 years old I think) with attempted murder, GBH and attempted GBH. A third was in custody but hadn't been charged last I read. This is just one of a number of serious recent assaults. A mate of a colleague was stabbed after a group in a car drove at his car and he retaliated with a comment. They forced him to stop then beat him up. I think we'll get more riots this summer.
  17. You'd definitely want full mobility in that situation.
  18. This is one of a number of attacks and assaults that have occurred in and around Oldham in the last few weeks https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greater-manchester-news/horrific-moment-thugs-tried-kill-14444509 I've also hard about at least half a dozen other incidents that haven't been reported either to the police or by the local media. Oldham just feels like a powder keg at the moment and I don't think that it'll take much more to set off.
  19. That's very much the position locally. Contractor caught on site knowingly felling a cedar that had been refused consent to fell. Legal department didn't pursue it. TO and Planning officer are fed up because this is continually happening. It does make you consider if it's worth doing everything properly and encouraging tree owners to go through the formal application process when, in all probability, they can do what they want with immunity.
  20. From pruning/hacking back Arbutus at an exposed site/high elevation, I think it will do what Nepia said.
  21. Watched this a few times before, trying to work out whether it was foreseeable or not. The initial crack just seems to appear from nowhere before it goes very bad, very quick. That feller was on the ball, escape route, escape route compromised, secondary escape route, outa there.. Still don't know whether it was luck, quick thinking and experience or what that saved him from harm.
  22. Bit surprised at the level of the fine. Kirklees has a long history of successful TPO prosecutions going back over twenty years, to my knowledge, normally with pretty steep fines.
  23. Saturday night dinner party is good, too.
  24. That'll teach me to read the post properly
  25. Sorry to derail, but why?
