  1. And I got my shavette. Shaving oil- check Shaving soap - check Stick thing for cuts - check I learnt one thing. Blood is a good lubricant! Then I had the thought that shaving with a straight razor is probably the most stupidest idea that I've ever had (and I've been married twice!) One thing I noticed, Got a real close shave on the parts that weren't bleeding.
  2. Anyone got a use for a set of L200 HD Springs? I put them on a year or two back due to broken leaf on the original set, up-rating because I thought they'd be better - they weren't. With only carrying the dogs or a few tools they never really got tensioned and after hitting a pothole the hanger would sometimes flip towards the axle, so I've gone back to the normal again. There's no cracks or damage to the leaves, but no fitting kit with them. Fits a 2000 model. Think they're 4+2 leaves, but the leaves aren't interchangeable with the non HD springs (difference thicknesses) Want nowt for them, but collection only from OL4 So if someone has a use/need.....
  3. So you can work out next Saturday's lottery simply by asking will one be drawn?, will two be drawn? etc, until you get the six numbers? Where's me coat hangers? Never seen it done, but open minded.
  4. I think mr Humphries has TPO'd an elder. Notice that you class a hedge as being trimmed 2-3 times a year. In the less affluent north, a hedge may be lucky to be trimmed every 3-5 yrs, so we have significant hedges/trees fairly frequently. Trimming 'new growth' may involve knocking 5-6m offs So it's a case, in CAs particularly, of reducing 'trees' back into a manageable hedge size - until the next time, when it all starts again. I'm off stacking shelves in tescos
  5. Come on Paul, the law can't even define a tree, what chance do we have. When does a hedgerow change into significant trees? 20ft, 30ft or more. Plenty of elders with orders on, most books describe them as shrubs! I'd ordinarily call them shrubs, along with certain laurel species- but over 75mm in CA's they're suddenly trees. In the first instance, IMO, they are whatever the TO says they are, once that's established then argue the toss to do what the client wants. These sort of questions belong in that other thread - Unanswerable questions!
  6. Think I,be got sorted, at least to get a site meeting this week to consider viability. Arbtalk can sometimes be too helpful, phone ain't stopped all day
  7. You can, at least with gmail, add 2 part authentication to existing accounts. If you don't or can't protect that account it can still be accessed and used maliciously against everyone you've ever corresponded with!
  8. After my recent hacking, I've started to use the two-step log in process. It's a bit like the internet banking log-in with a password and an app that generates a numeric code that changes every thirty seconds. You can log in from your own devices and say that that address is trusted and you only re-enter the numeric every thirty days. I'm assuming that someone has unauthorized access to your email account and then follows up on what you are sending or receiving, so this should deny that access? Have you looked into where your email account has been logged into from? Mine was Singapore and Nigeria, 6.30 AM (our time) both within half an hour.
  9. Some of our LA's say different.
  10. We've a site with around 4 acres of 20 yr old growth to clear, that needs starting in the next week or so. The site was industrial and there may be constraints to prevent mulching in some areas, so I could do with talking to and meeting someone in the next few days to walk around it. Site is near Ashton-under-Lyne, north east of Manchester. This is not a tender, client owns the site and is eager to clear it now. Anyone interested and available, please call me on 07590 927170
  11. That's not from a CA website, sounds like more to do with the hedgerows regs/act. Dbh is the deciding factor in CA,s. LA may not object to removing it, but they still must have the option to, by serving a TPO. We submit for significant reductions of LC hedges but not annual/biennial 'trimming', although strictly, I suppose, we should.
  12. It's firewood, Bob, and it's FREE!
  13. Been using one for a few weeks, no rash, redness or anything. Just waiting for a shavette to see if I can get an even better shave now.
  14. As Openspaceman said, that's a bummer! But on the plus side you're still breathing, which is always a bonus! Get well soon
  15. Good managers are like good climbers, they make the job look easy.
  16. Why does 'management' always feel like a dig? I did do almost thirty years on the tools before crossing the great divide:001_tt2:
  17. Ten minutes on the naughty step!
  18. Cool vid, I'm beginning to see the fascination that 'certain people' have with them
  19. Bit confused on how anyone can be banned and posting? Or was it a short ban which has now ended? Either way, if that's the most you've got to worry about in life, it ain't all bad:biggrin:
  20. Myrobalan plum, prunus cerisifera I think
  21. Sounds reasonable if that includes a bat survey, TM and a permit for a lane closure:biggrin:
  22. Bats are often the last result of objectors, trying to stop you felling. Of course, before you started work you did consider the possibility of bat roosts, inspected nooks and crevasses for signs of habitation etc. Didn't you?
  23. How are you drinking wine, what with your tongue so firmly wedged in your cheek this evening?
  24. I think you spelt 'refuge' wrong, Mr J:001_tt2:
  25. None of which helps the opening poster! A good TO, a short site meeting and a clear methodology would/could make this a simple issue. Probably end up being asked for a consultant's report, written method statements, the works.
