  1. Don't hold back, tell us how you really feel. listening to this on the radio driving up to Stirling this evening, it sounded like he was frothing at the mouth and losing the plot.. The presenter said he was unsure whether the intention was to bail out of existing contracts or just not enter anymore. If it bail out, it can't save money because it's a contract and payments are inflation linked over the term of the contract.
  2. The second fellow wasn't wearing 'a' glove.
  3. Sounds good, it seemed well liked.
  4. Either that or cultural ambassador. Sorry Matelot, couldn't resist.
  5. I wouldn't bother Ian, unless I'm mistaken, it's coming to an end in November. Thread on here a few weeks back about it.
  6. missionary work?
  7. Probably get four or five enquiries from the contact us part of our website a week, as an email enquiry, but on asking customers who initially phoned many had looked us up online after W.OM or seeing vehicles etc.
  8. that article said a lot but explained nothing. Drought, SOD, Phytophthora, Chestnut blight, beetles from the elm bark beetle family (Scoty something- can't be ar&*€ looking the spelling up), pine beetles, fungi in the vascular system etc. So basically drought stress causing vulnerability to mortality by anything/everything else? but thanks for the link
  9. I stopped reading after this; Julian Huppert, an academic and Liberal Democrat candidate for Cambridge who compiled the data on the departure of EU academics, said Brexit risked leading to a “sharp rise” in people from Europe leaving. You gotta love statistics for proving your opinion,
  10. You're missing something. Anyone know what the cause of the mortality is?
  11. A little taster.. Some of the new avenues that Peter propagated and planted aren't in areas open to the public and neither is the champion Castanea in the thread. But it's a good site generally for some significant trees.
  12. I know I keeping harping on but, the work at Burghley with just a good depth (some would say excessive) of chip is impressive in reducing compaction and cheap.
  13. In reply to Mick Me! At work, I think I'm sufficiently compensated for my labour, bearing in mind the economics of tree work in this locality and the local cost of living. If I was doing the same job in London, for example I'd expect a higher level. In my own work, my rates are a lot higher- but I'm SE, pay my own heads and costs. Maybe I'm lucky ( or realistic) but I'm content.
  14. So I'm ok with mine sat on my lap while driving, as long as the seat belt is around him and me?
  15. There's worse parts than Droylesdon
  16. With Trump and North Korea, may be sooner rather than later.
  17. Honesty is easy. If it ain't yours keep your thieving hands off it. And if it isn't the truth it's a lie. you can't really argue about interpretations in this case. People died, people lost all the possessions. Then low life scum attempted to jump on the bandwagon to profit. There's a problem if someone has to start wondering how to define honesty, morality or integrity in this case. It's not exactly eating a couple of grapes from the display in Sainsbury's. Anyone involved in a false claim of losing family in that fire wants their faces plastered over billboards in the borough.
  18. Anyone who acts without honesty, morality or integrity and then blames their actions 'cos others do it' is probably immoral, dishonest and lacks integrity to begin with and is unintelligent enough to believe they're fooling anyone else.
  19. How low will some people sink, for financial gain?
  20. I'm sure you'll find something if you try hard enough. Next time you sat with your feet up in the van, have a real good think.
  21. Not with me it don't. Older kids living at home suggests more disposable income. I do add ten ten percent to the time to do the job, to account for the lads sniffing round like dogs with a bitch in heat
  22. If it reduces the ecological and environmental impact of shipping charcoal halfway across Europe (particularly from countries that may have very different interpretations of sustainability) how can that be a bad thing?
  23. Posting pictures is so much easier. Only small complaint is that the unread posts disappear from the new posts page after being read (doh) and then I have to find them later by remembering which part of the forum they were in. I preferred the old way, but this may be my own fault due to not looking at settings. Particularly like the 'like' and thankyou buttons - allowing a response without cluttering up the page with posts that don't really add to the topic. Overall, an improvement.
  24. if galvanised nails have been used. otherwise the tannin will corrode the metal and it'll fail.
