  1. What is a life time guarantee? I think I was born with a lifetime guarantee on breathing. When I stop the guarantee expires. ( as do I) Not digging at anyone but what is a lifetime guarantee? It works until it doesn't? It won't break into bits, until it does? I'm confused!
  2. I don't know, but I think there's data protection issues involved when they're used for reasons other than dash cams. It it seems a very grey area. Why is life so difficult nowadays?
  3. Do you mind? He's very sensitive and easily embarrassed!
  4. Another hard day at the office for Busa
  5. In what regard? As to damage caused, access to clear it up, ownership of the timber? Negligence on the owners part?
  6. Must be moving south and west. This morning the wind was warm and balmy, gusts felt as if you was next to an exhaust pipe, but the sky was orange and dark. In oldham it's blowing with an occasional fierce gust, but the sky is now blue and temp dropped to normal.
  7. I don't think the worms are the primary issue, rather they have colonised the area due to the dysfunction and decay in the heartwood and sapwood. There looks to be some slime flux/bacterial effusions going on too. The real cause is probably 'strimmer rash' caused by careless grass cutting.
  8. My rottie was worse, she thought they stayed up there. If she chased one up a tree, she'd go and look for it everytime she passed again. She also learnt where ducks would be around the lake edges, amongst the reeds and under the tree canopies. Once she flushed them out, she'd swim after them. Rotties, apparently, go deaf in water They can swim, however, for an extraordinarily long time.
  9. We're probably a few years behind you up here, but this year it's taking off. It's currently only apparent on self set saplings, coppice and other regen growth, but it's widespread. Last weekend I was on sites in St Helens and Macclesfield and noted it on both and travelling between. It's certainly going to change the landscape.
  10. Got them in most of the works vehicles, of which are also linked to tracking devices. One of the vehicles was involved in an accident Monday and it proved beyond doubt that the other driver was at fault (despite what she said) I think that that camera was only about £35.00 and the sound/picture quality is really good. I'll follow this thread closely because I now want to put one in my vehicle - cos everyone seems to be determined to kill me this week.
  11. You still talking about your tattoo?
  12. It's a whale of story, that he'll carp on about for ages.
  13. Difficult to assess that! My initial impression was that the lad was attempting to lock his door as Kevin approached and the abject look of horror on his face calmed him (Kevin) down.
  14. You couldn't make it up. But it does go to show how a little act of tomfoolery can escalate. From the report I read earlier he's lucky to be alive, due both the CPR administered by his friends and the very rapid arrival of the paramedics.
  15. I think one of the lads pinched mine, to hang his fisher-price walkie-talkie on!
  16. Where can I get one?
  17. One of our vehicles had a bump on Monday. Sat at lights and the vehicle in front rolled back three metres and hit it. The (woman) drive immediately jumped out and accused our lad of hitting her! She continued to do so even after the camera was pointed out and called the police. Her husband turned up and it was all getting a bit tense. Its a relief having the footage, no matter how many 'witnesses' she conjures up after the fact, to support her claims of whiplash for her & her passenger the video tells the truth.
  18. The attitude that 'the customer is always right', & 'if I don't do it someone else will'. Then after that ' take the money and run'. You'll then be a tree guy. I've had the same 'discussions' with the same people for several years. You're wasting your time!
  19. A confession, M'Lord! I agree with Martyn, probably planted somewhere else, in an entirely unsuitable position. On the plus side, if someone's taken the time to take it, hopefully it will be nurtured in its new home. I have no idea how you'd go about establishing something without it being pinched. I've heard of fencing, trees/shrubs and even turf being 'lost' off of landscaping schemes.
  20. As an aside, at the workshop/lecture/sales pitch we were told that Cellweb would guarantee the health of a tree for ten years where their product was used (useful for TPO trees) as long as they were involved from the start. I don't know the specifics but the angle is that they've done the r&d to have the confidence to give one. Personally I've only had a couple of dealings with them, some basic requirements that they resolved easily & efficiently, but their specificying department are supposed to know their onions.
  21. Dumb idea, nobody would interested in that.
  22. I had this conversation with a fellow giving a talk from Cellweb, after he'd shown some pictures of a site where they had layered to a depth of four or five feet. IIRC it was a question that he couldn't really answer, even as an arboriculturist. I'd imagine that the underlying soil structure would make a lot of difference. Soils with high silt or clay contents suffering the affects of the weight more than sandy soils. I'd try to have a chat with the engineers at cellweb.
  23. I don't think they see any money whatever the charge is. I've said this before, the law needs to be changed so that ring-fenced money comes back locally to replace the loss of amenity.
  24. Only a week? It's bleeding heart liberals like you that have removed the fear of punishment that perpetuates criminal activity!
