  1. I suppose that even a privet hedge could provide aesthetic, cultural or environmental benefits. And once it's in an Order you need deep pockets to contest it.
  2. I heard tell that you had Echo tattooed on your ar$e
  3. Don't be daft, you'd have to go to a official Stihl dealer to get that done.
  4. Gets my vote for one of the forums more 'unusual' threads What's it taste like?
  5. Based on experience of my local authority, I would say the conifers are trees and subject to a notification, the laurels not. But even if the opening poster can get work stopped, IMO, further protection in the form of a TPO would be unlikely. Assuming that these belong to the care home.
  6. I know of TOs on here who have TPOd an Elder.
  7. Congrats
  8. Only you Mark, only you
  9. I can see Steve's point, you've been a member for six years and have posted twelve times. (three of which are in this thread) If there isn't the volume of traffic it's hard to justify retaining parts of the forum. The saying 'use it or lose it' comes to mind. Im not having a personal dig at you, just trying to illustrate that forums are only as good as the input of the members.
  10. Once was enough, thank you very much.
  11. I had a week in hospital over last New Year with it cos of poor immunity after chemo. I think a couple of weeks later it had cleared up. But, the area is tender on occasion particularly when I'm hot and feels funny to the touch due to the nerve damage. To make you feel worse, there's more probability that you'll get it again I think.
  12. Can you post some photos of your pruning?
  13. They're different?
  14. I think I've a copy of that book, although I forget reading that particular passage. The history of arboriculture and forestry is fascinating, what our predecessors got right, and really wrong. I've been reading a bit about the Davey Tree Co recently and a lot of ideas were pretty near the mark ( and a lot way off) What's that saying? 'Standing on the shoulders of giants'.
  15. Not my intent (tonight), which was why I edited when I realised my error. But I do like cats! BTW, it's only eleven o'clock. A case of the kettle calling?
  16. That's his (or her) problem. And you still owe me a bacon sarnie!
  17. Why would you want to strangle a cat? hurting animals is a common action of juvenile psychopaths! Edit. Oops forgot the
  18. Very true, on both counts
  19. Oh you bugger, that's an image that can't be unseen. I
  20. Do you replace each saw annually? Just asking. I think you've probably under valued your climbing kit if you include rigging equipment.
  21. Be nice! I've done enough to wind him up tonight as it is.
  22. What was the canopy like on that David? I dismantled one a few years ago, with probably 90% of the canopy dead, which had more live sapwood than that.
  23. Compared to who? Just thought I'd bait the hook and see if I got a bite
  24. How did you know that one mate? Ive never seen one over a couple of inches in diameter.
  25. I've just got to ask. Does anyone actually work for United Utilities? From what I'm told they're in the van with their feet on the dash, or stood around in gangs with clipboards peering down holes.
