    Parkrun

Think I'll pick and choose the weeks I do it too. Had pretty leisurely Fri last week for a change, so felt well rested for the run. This Friday I'll be wrestling with the stump grinder all day, so may not be quite as perky!!

    Parkrun

I felt fit to drop when I crossed the line. Didn't have anything to aim for, so I just ran. I've not done much running before and I've only done one organised event in the past, a 10k. Must be good after doing Parkrun a few times to have a better idea of the pace you can manage and (hopefully) see a bit of consistency/progress even. Do you end up hoping for a PB every week tho ???

    Parkrun

Yeah, I'm lucky to have the bike ride as an easy way to wake up/ loosen up on the way there. Not sure I would relish an uphill journey home though. Sounds tough!

    Parkrun

Wonder why it's taken me so long to have a go at this?:confused1: What a great event! Cycled steadily over there in 20 mins which worked well as a warm-up. Had time for a bit of trotting and a stretch before the off. Never ran in a 5k event before, so was concerned about what pace to go at. The only tactic I had was to start near the back so that I was chasing people, rather than being overtaken all the time. Worked pretty well and I managed a fairly even pace. Next time I'll make sure my laces are tied securely, cos I had to stop to tie them in the final k:blushing: Despite the schoolboy error I was very pleased with the 22:53 time. Faster than any training I've ever managed! I'll definitely be back for more Parkruns and would recommend it if you've never tried.

There's generally quite a good turnout for the local run, 300+. Hoping I get a bit of a boost from the atmosphere to get me to go a bit faster than my normal jog.

    Parkrun

Running my first ever Parkrun this week after quite a lot.of time recovering from an Achilles injury. Haven't been able to train with much in the way of speedy running yet, but it feels like time to go for it for 5k at least. The killer could be being ready and warmed up for the 9am start time!!
  7. Spinach, asparagus, poached egg, toast. Beat that !!
  8. Been getting down to our allotment much more this season. Bit of a washout last year (like most people's) -ended up pretty discouraged. Bit early for much produce yet, but got out early to pick the first of the spinach for breakfast today. Bloody marvellous!!
  9. Blimey, they're in good nick. Very nice bikes.
  10. Nine?? You've really got the bug, eh?
  11. Yes I change from slick road tyres to the nobblies for real muddy stuff. I'm too tight to buy more than one bike- sounds like you have got lots of garage room? I'm finding myself doing less and less real mtb stuff and have been considering changing to a cyclo-cross bike.
  12. Fencing is an all year round job. Loads of damage done by winter storms to keep you busy.
  13. Yeah, that's my go-anywhere steed. It's been down red runs at Glentress and I also go touring with panniers on as well as general hooning about at home. It's pretty light weight, but it's no racer! Was just in the mood to get a bit of speed on for once.
  14. Perfect weather this morning for a trip up the coast to Cresswell and back home for dinnertime. Refuelled at this fine establishment. Trip clocked at 47 miles in about 3h20min which is fast (for me).
  15. Really informative thread. Thanks for taking the time and sharing. That last pic is brilliant for an idea of the scale. Get it up on your website gallery before someone else does!!!
  16. I've got a one-bike-for-everything policy. Mountain bike has to do it all! Change tyres for road trips. Was away on a weekend tour last week with a bunch of mates who all had road bikes and I didn't keep them waiting too much. We did a circular Sustrans route from Edinburgh, about 180 miles. No rush, three days. Road bikes are pretty focussed, they don't like anything too bumpy!
  17. We use HL100k. Same weight as HL90k but quite a bit better for the vibration figures. Always use the green Stihl HP oil with the 4-mix engines too.
  18. I'm trying to get there too. Am doing 7.30s typically in speedy training runs, so maybe some extra adrenalin from a race would help. I see a Parkrun in my near future.
  19. Nice job on those slippy banks! I thought I recognised it. Went walking out there one snowy day in January. If you get the chance, check out the massive Yew behind the church at Beltingham just down the road. Supposed to be the oldest in the county.
  20. I always wear work gear ( overalls or chainsaw pants) even if I've not been at work and turn up in a sign written van. If you look the part you'll get the job* someone once said. *Sometimes
  21. Allen Banks mebs???
  22. :thumbup:Now THAT is a very smart rig!
  23. Just checked the diary to get the date of the last job we did when this happened. Sycamore, Friday 18th Jan. To make this post even duller, I didn't get a picture:blushing:
  24. Politicians and their promises, eh? (Am I in danger of sounding cynical here?) Come on then Dave, get herself home from bloody Liberia and sort it out!
