  1. I've seen them out with strimmers and a few with a saw. It's volunteering so not sure what the h and s rules are.
  2. If this is right I will never hear the end of it as the other half said a monkey puzzle.
  3. Yep exactly what you have just said. The signs are for advertising only. Get the council bloke to come up and have a chat. Tea and biscuits are good. Chances are its another supplier or an annoyed neighbour. Had it before. Once a visit has been made and the council are happy that the logs are for own use they will leave you alone. They may want to see the yard aswell.
  4. Ha I guess the long grass that now covers the stumps means they havnt got anyone with a grinder that will do it for free.
  5. Looks kind of cool tho. Was I right by the way?
  6. Think I will. But then would they pay out as it was volunteers and not a company the council could claim back on???
  7. First I guess you have lost work due to the volunteers? They are annoying, a group had cleared an area near to me only to leave foot high stumps all over the place, not sure what the compensation would be if I was to go playing in the park and trip over one, leaving me with a few months out of work.
  8. Not one reply to say how fantastic the stihls are...........
  9. When the mower starts picking up the snow on the ground. Tree work takes over in winter.
  10. Well no answer so I looked today and it had a leak in the fuel pipe so no fuel getting through. It's a powerfull little tool aswell.
  11. Interesting. That's my thoughts on the saw. I suppose its all down to the one handed use on a saw again. The domestic user just cutting up a barrow load and using one hand as its easier. Then the almighty rush to a and e begins. Another trip handle sold to general public. Powerfull or not its still going to do some damage. But then it's the manufacturers discretion who the saw is aimed at selling to.
  12. Care to explain further. I was trawling eBay and this came up. Never seen one before so thought I would ask the experts.
  13. Didn't think it was snowing already. Clear skies and sunshine here. Bit cold but that's it. Was raining last night.
  14. Oh I would not want to be you if spuds thread get lost.
  15. Just buy a new one. Chains are a wearing part of a saw, bit like brake pads. But as gardenkit has said. Look into why if its a new chain it has gone. Was it in manufacturing or is it something with the saw.....
  16. F r jones are a supply shop and when I have usd them there shipping time has always been spot on. He is thanking f r jones for some gear he has brought. This thread is in f r jones section of forum.
  17. That look impressive. Could be suitable for running chip around a site.
  18. Just order a new chain. There not that much to buy.
  19. Picked up something I have never seen tonight. A Mikita backpack strimmer. It went straight into the shed and I'm looking at it tomorrow. Was told it stopped working and wouldn't start again. Did manage to give it a quick pull on the cord and it feels ok but checking comp tomoz. Anyone have any ideas othe then the usual spark or fuel. Or anyone had any experience of this type before? Also looked at a husky backpack hydraulic fibre glass pole saw, was told to make him an offer but I have no idea what hey are worth, it runs good but that's about it, it also looks like it done very little work. What does everyone reckon they worth.
  20. Tough week mate. Think hiedi forgot who I was  13 hour days. My legs don't work anymore, and my brain stopped working 3 days ago. Shame the 036 has been cannabalised or I would be getting a meteor piston kit for it.
  21. Looking at starting to replace some saws. So what should they be? Looking at replacing a stihl 048av. But with what. Not interested in a stihl/husky debate But either would be ok. Need the same power and size! One for climbing and section down aswell. At he moment it's a 034 with think its a 24 inch bar but without measuring I don't know. This would also need something else. Plus the top handle...... Using the good old 200t at the mo but will need new soon. Thinking about the new husky but with no views on it thought about the older ones? Keeping the 088 running as is fantastic expet for getting up a tree, too heavy aparantly? So what is lighter but can still deliver the power/bar size for big stuff???
  22. I would say sequoia. I've had a wire core made up that goes from ring to ring. Had it made before I used the harness as I didn't like the look of the webbing. Although I would think it is perfectly safe and chances of failing are extremely high, I had it done as its all about trust in the gear you use, gives me piece of mind at 30+ feet. And I remember posting about putting a wire core piec in mine and having a reply about being a girl. Not so much anymore.....
